One of the first Pokemon encountered by many Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players is Rookidee, and they have the chance to evolve it into a Corviknight. Doing so is a simple process, but plenty of players have likely found themselves anxious about when they’ll get access to the powerful steel-flying Pokemon.

In many ways, it’s Pokemon tradition to have a three-stage flying Pokemon players can find at the start of their journey. From Pidgeot to Staraptor to Talonflame, players have been able to essentially have a second starter in the first bird they see. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet don't add a new Pokemon of this sort but brought back Corviknight, who filled this niche in Pokemon Sword & Shield.

Unlike Pidgeot and Unfezant, who don’t hold up especially well these days, Corviknight is one of the best flying-type and steel-type Pokemon around. Players will be well-served using the Pokemon in their playthrough and potentially building one up for ranked battles.

When Does Rookidee Evolve?

Rookidee evolves into Corvisquire at level 18. Rookidee is easy to find right at the start of the game. The Pokemon is found as a fairly common spawn in the areas east of Mesagoza.

While players can evolve Rookidee to Corvisquire without much trouble, it’s also possible to catch Corvisquire directly. The Pokemon can be found in many of the same areas as Rookidee as an uncommon spawn.

When Does Corvisquire Evolve into Corviknight?

Corvisquire evolves into Corviknight at level 38. It does not require any specific moves or any evolution items and simply needs to hit level 38. This is a relatively high bar but isn’t quite as difficult to achieve as evolving pseudo legendaries, like Drakloak to Dragapult.

That said, players do have the ability to catch a Corviknight in the wild. While the Pokedex says “HABITAT UNKNOWN,” suggesting players cannot encounter it in the wild, that’s not actually true. There is a single fixed Tera spawn Corviknight spawn in North Province Area Two east of Firescourge Shrine, home of legendary Pokemon Chi-Yu. The exact location can be seen here:

This Corviknight has a fixed fighting Tera Type, but players can change its Tera Type if they so desire.

Is Corviknight Any Good in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Corviknight is a very powerful Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Though Corviknight is relatively slow and has an underwhelming 495 base stat total, it has a lot of positive attributes.

Steel-flying typing is very strong, with just two weaknesses to eight resistances and two immunities. That’s accentuated by above-average HP, Defense, and Sp. Defense stats. Though it has a limited moveset, Body Press, Iron Head, and Brave Bird are all threatening, and the Pokemon can keep itself alive with Roost.

Corviknight is a Pokemon that can stick with the trainer all the way through Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s final mission. It can even be relied on in ranked singles and doubles battles if the player wants to get started competitively.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
