Pawmi is undoubtedly one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's cutest new additions. The first of three evolutions, Pawmi seems to start as an adorable quadruped, another cuddly rodent-type with the potential to shock the unsuspecting—usually endearingly so.

How to Evolve Pawmi into Pawmo and Pawmot

This Mouse Pokemon has ripe, apricot-hued tufts and a contrasting splash of teal in the skin of the ear—practically the only thing to spot it as it moves lightning-fast in a fight. Otherwise, as the Pokedex entry for its final form states, Pawmot "is usually slow to react."

Pawmi evolves into Pawmo through natural leveling at 18. It gains a tiny bit of height, and its club-like forearms sway as it now stands on its two feet—and with more tufts of fur to boot. Pawmi gains a new type, Fighting, when it evolves into Pawmo and carries that typing into its last evolution: Pawmot.

But the evolution into Pawmot doesn't require a simple leveling up, and, no, it's not through friendship either. Instead, trainers must walk with Pawmo for at least 1000 steps before it seems to finally, spontaneously evolve.

There is no pedometer in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so there is no way to tell once the Pokemon has walked 1000 steps. Yet one thing is certain: trainers are sure to feel the fatigue of walking and waiting for Pawmo.

Some have suggested jumping on the roof of a PokeCenter and having Pawmo run around frantically below like a helpless puppy. Soon enough, at the next level up, Pawmo will evolve into Pawmot and gain considerably more tufts of fur—including a tall new hairdo.

Where to Find Pawmi

Pawmi is incredibly common and can be found in abundance across the vast Paldean landscapes of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet—especially as trainers are just starting out. Therefore, the chances of a Shiny incidence of this Pokemon are also higher—but eyes need to be kept peeled; these electric critters are small and can easily be passed over. And yet, one can never ignore the unbearable cuteness of Pawmi—especially if one is always on the lookout. Pawni is at least an easier Pokemon to get than certain others.

Pawmi can be found in these areas: South Province Area One, South Province Area Three, and South Province Area Five.

Perhaps a quarter or a third of the way through a campaign of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pawmot will prove to be a formidable addition to any team—maybe even the second-strongest, behind the trainer's starter. Pawmot fighting's type allows it to wield powerful moves such as Arm Thrust, while its electric typing opens the possibilities to Thunder down the road. Like other new Pokemon, Pawmi is deceptively a beast.

What's more, this Pokemon learns Dig naturally. It's truly multitalented and capable of great amounts of damage, all packed in a deceptively compact body. The Pawmi line of Pawmo and Pawmot is definitively among the most pleasing of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's newest generation of Pokemon.
