In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players will have the option of catching a few Pokemon that have some more obscure methods of evolving them into their final forms. The evolutions coincide with some of the new mechanics that are present in-game, and players will need to utilize these mechanics in order to obtain these new Pokemon for their Pokedex.

One of these Pokemon is Rellor, a little dung beetle-like Pokemon that seems difficult to evolve at first glance. To acquire this Pokemon and its evolution, Rabsca, a new and interesting-looking Psychic and Bug type Pokemon, here is what players will need to do.

The first thing players should do to catch a Rellor is to head over toward the west side of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Paldea region. In the Western Province of Paldea lies the Asado Desert, a barren wasteland that nonetheless houses a large diversity of flying and ground type Pokemon.

Among these native Pokemon is the small beetle Rellor. Players should begin to walk around the Asado Desert, keeping an eye out for the little balls rolling throughout the sands, and they will find a Rellor with relative ease.

Evolving a Rellor

Rellor is evolving

Evolving Rellor is where things become a little more difficult. Rellor will not evolve regardless of its level unless a prerequisite is met first, and that involves the new Let's Go mechanic in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The Let’s Go mechanic allows players to send their Pokemon out of their Pokeballs and into the wild with the ZR Button, or players can press the R button to send their party out to fight Pokemon in the wild.

Rellor Lets go

What is a bit more obscure is that, in order to evolve Rellor into a Rabsca, players will first need to walk around with their Rellor for a few minutes before leveling their Rellor up. Upon walking for around 1000 steps and then causing their Rellor to level up while it is outside its Pokeball, Rellor will evolve into Rabsca.

Rellor is Rabsca

Players should be sure to keep Rellor outside its Pokeball at all times during this process, as Rellor will not evolve if it is inside its Pokeball when it levels up. This means that Rellor must be out of its Pokeball and walking around with the Let’s Go feature when it levels up. Rellor is a slow Pokemon, so players should also be aware of walking too fast, as it will return to its Pokeball if players get too far away from it.
