The Picnic gameplay mechanic in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is more or less an improvement of the Camping feature in Sword/Shield. During this, the player character can interact with the Pokemon in their party. Picnicking is useful for healing Pokemon, getting Meal Effects from sandwich-making, and increasing Friendship. There are various stores in Paldea, but only one chain sells picnic supplies.
In Scarlet/Violet, players won't be able to customize their dorm room, but they can customize their picnic tablecloth, water bottle, ball, and cup for some originality. Decorating won't influence Meal Effects, or anything of the sort. However, if players have extra poke dollars, they can visit Picnic-Knacks and buy accessories to spice up their picnic set.
How to Change Picnic Decorations
At the start, players will have Naranja/Uva Academy-themed picnic gear and an Academy Ball. To change the tablecloth, water bottle, and cup, do the following:
- Go into the menu (X-button) and select Picnic.
- Walk up to the picnic table and press A button.
- Select Redecorate. From there, it will ask if Scarlet/Violet players want to change the tablecloth, water bottle, or cup.
- * If players want to change the ball, they should select Choose a ball instead of Redecorate.
Where to Find Picnic-Knacks
The more decorations that players obtain, the more choices they'll have. Picnic decorations can be bought from Picnic-Knacks, except for the Slowpoke Cup, which is gained via a sidequest. Water bottles are usually more expensive than tablecloths or cups. Most picnic decorations form a "set," such as the Polka-Dot tablecloth, Polka-Dot cup, and Polka-Dot bottle. However, players can mix and match whatever they want.
There are three Picnic-Knacks in all of Paldea. They're found in Mesagoza, Levincia, and Cascarrafa. If players are having a hard time finding the stores, they can open the map with Y-button and zoom in with ZR (refer to the images below for the exact locations).
