Dusk Stones were introduced to Pokemon in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl and they remain a fixture of the series to this day. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players will need to track a couple down in order to complete their Pokedex, but doing so might be easier said than done.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet works quite differently from past games in terms of how items are acquired. There are merchants aplenty and items to be picked up off the ground, but things like the Porto Marinada auction house add new wrinkles to this.

So how do Dusk Stones fit into the game now? Here’s where to find Dusk Stones in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and how to make use of them.

Where to Get Dusk Stones in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players can find a Dusk Stone behind the Montenevera Gym and as a Pokedex reward for registering 130 Pokemon. Alongside this, there are infinite sources of Dusk Stones on the ground and at the Porto Marinada auction house where it has a chance to appear for sale.

The easiest and fastest way to get one is behind Ryme’s gym in Montenevera. The item is found on the ground as a Poke Ball, but it does not respawn. Its exact location on the map can be seen here:

Dusk Stones can be found dotted around Paldea in other locations, but are available in very limited numbers. Visiting the auction house during each in-game day is the only reliable way to stock up on them.

Which Pokemon Evolve with a Dusk Stone?

At present, there are four Pokemon known to evolve with the use of a Dusk Stone. Each of these Pokemon require a Dusk Stone in order to evolve, unlike Pokemon like Magnezone and Leafeon who can evolve via stones or alternative means. The list of Pokemon that require a Dusk Stone to evolve stands as follows:

  • Murkrow
  • Misdreavus
  • Lampent
  • Doublade

Of these Pokemon, only Murkrow and Misdreavus are available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. This means that players only need to get two Dusk Stones in order to complete their Pokedex without relying on extremely rare spawns or chance Tera Raid battle encounters. Players have relatively easy access to two Dusk Stones and can get by with just those two.

At present, the Chandelure and Aegislash evolutionary lines are not available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. There is no sign of them coming to the game via an event similar to how Cinderace and Greninja were introduced to the games. Fans of these ghost-type Pokemon can only hope that they get introduced to the games via DLC at some point in the future.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
