Moon Stones were a big deal in the original Pokemon Red & Blue as there were only a few available in each game, but several Pokemon that evolved with them. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet flip the script.

While every evolution stone from previous generations is available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, some are used on as few as one Pokemon. How to Get Moon Stones in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players can get a Moon Stone as a Pokedex completion reward, from the Porto Marinada auction house, or by finding one on the ground to the northeast of the South Province Area Three Pokemon Center.

The earliest opportunity to get a Moon Stone comes by finding one in South Province Area Three. This mountainous region has a number of cliffs, and jumping down the right one can lead players to an early Moon Stone. Its exact location can be seen here:

Another guaranteed Moon Stone can be found as a Pokedex completion reward. Players will receive one after catching 210 different Pokemon.

Beyond that, players have the ability to farm an unlimited number of Moon Stones through the Porto Marinada auction house and by finding them as twinkling treasures on the ground. Neither of these methods are reliable and rely on RNG. The auction house is the better option as players have multiple ways of resetting the items available for sale.

Which Pokemon Evolve With a Moon Stone?

The only Pokemon that evolves with a Moon Stone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is Jigglypuff. There is a long list of other Pokemon who evolve by using a Moon Stone, but none of them are available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet beyond the fan-favorite from the cartoon and Smash Bros.

There hasn’t yet been any indication that the other five Pokemon that use Moon Stones will be added to the games. While there are a variety of other Pokemon that are programmed into Pokemon Scarlet & Violet but are unable to be caught, that isn’t the case with these others. They may be added in the future through an event or DLC, but it’s unclear whether that will happen.
