In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players can unlock some of the games’ most powerful water types using a Water Stone. That makes it worth tracking some of these items down.

The Water Stone has been around since the beginning of the Pokemon series and it’s only fitting that it returns in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. As ever, the item can be used to evolve a select few Pokemon. Players have easy access to Water Stones, but it’s not immediately obvious how to get one.

Where to Get a Water Stone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players can purchase Water Stones from Delibird Presents. Each Water Stone costs $3,000 and the player can purchase as many as they so desire. They can be purchased at any of the five Delibird Presents locations across Paldea.

Alongside this, players have the ability to find Water Stones on the ground. The items can be found on the ground on both the random sparkles in the wild, and in fixed locations

The player can find a single guaranteed Water Stone in Cascarrafa. A Water Stone can be found across the moat surrounding the gym on the ground, appearing like a Poke Ball. Alongside this, players can receive a free Water Stone by registering 80 Pokemon to their Pokedex.

Which Pokemon Evolve with a Water Stone?

There are six Pokemon that are known to evolve with a Water Stone, though only two of them appear in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, the only Pokemon that utilize a Water Stone to evolve are Shellder and Eevee.

The full list of Pokemon that evolve with a Water Stone includes:

  • Poliwhirl
  • Shellder
  • Staryu
  • Eevee
  • Lombre
  • Panpour

Of this lot, only Eevee and Shellder are in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. While there are a number of other Pokemon that are programmed into the game that are not available to be captured, including Hisuian Pokemon like Wyrdeer and probable future seven-star Tera Raid bosses like Chesnaught. None of the other Pokemon that evolve via Water Stone are in the game, however.

Players can still complete the Pokedex without actually getting a Water Stone, however. Shellder’s evolved form, Cloyster, can be found along the southwestern and northern coasts of Paldea. Meanwhile, Vaporeon has a chance of spawning across much of northwestern Paldea.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
