Clear Amulet is a new held item introduced in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, and it is already shaking up the competitive scene. As with every other major Pokemon game release, the ninth-generation title added a long list of new Pokemon, new moves, and new items.
There are many different things that will change how players approach competitive battling in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but the one that has the most direct impact on things may just be the Clear Amulet.
What is the Clear Amulet?
The Clear Amulet protects the holder from having its attack stat lowered by the moves and abilities of opposing Pokemon. Intimidate-users such as Paldean Tauros have long been guaranteed in competitive play, and this item provides an answer.
How to Get Clear Amulet in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The Clear Amulet can be found at the Delibird Presents shop in Mesagoza. Simply visit the “Battle Items” section, and it can be purchased for 30,000 Pokedollars.
The good news is that, unlike the Choice Scarf, it is available right at the start of the game and can be purchased at any time. The price tag may preclude many from buying it at the start of the game, but it’s available to all, nonetheless.
The other option for getting the Clear Amulet is completing a trainer challenge from a Pokemon League representative. The item is offered by the rep at the West Province Area One North Pokemon Center to those who defeat nine trainers in the area. While this is free, it does require a bit of legwork from players.
Who are the Best Clear Amulet Users in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Clear Amulet is a viable option for almost any bulky physical attacker in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Tyranitar, Garchomp, Gyarados, and Baxcalibur are the most straightforward users. All of them want to be on the field for an extended period of time and want to be able to deal damage without having their output hindered by Intimidate or Screech. If they’re running Assault Vest, they also won’t have the ability to build their attack back up with a move like Swords Dance.
Quaquaval was a popular user of Clear Amulet as well. The Pokemon is capable of building up its attack stat throughout a battle when using the hidden ability Moxie and relies on a wide variety of moves, making Clear Amulet a strong held item choice.
Does Clear Amulet Work Against Haze or Clear Smog?
Clear Amulet does not protect the user from either Haze or Clear Smog. It is possible Game Freak may change this in the future, but for the time being, this significantly hinders the item’s usefulness in doubles battles.
