In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, several new items have been introduced, including a few held items that players can use to give themselves an edge in difficult battles. One of these new items is the Covert Cloak. Of the many new items that have been added to the game, the Covert Cloak has some potential use in battles where players expect their Pokemon to take a hit or two, which can be acquired with relative ease, provided the player has the money to do so.
Covert Cloak Uses
The Covert Cloak, a new item in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s generation 9, can protect the Pokemon holding it from any additional effects that may be attached to moves used against players' Pokemon.
For example, Body Slam is a normal type move with 85 power and 100 accuracy. On top of this, however, Body Slam has a chance to cause paralysis to the Pokemon that it hits. With the Covert Cloak being held, the Pokemon will still be hit with the Body Slam, but the cloak will negate the chance of being paralyzed.
The Covert Cloak drastically decreases the usefulness of Body Slam in this example. This ability to protect Pokemon will extend to any move that has a secondary effect on it, be it poison or burn, freeze or any stat changes, etc. This makes the Covert Cloak a useful tool for any defensive strategies in battle or as a means of countering any strategy that relies upon effects attached to moves.
Getting a Covert Cloak
Apart from the potential usefulness of the Covert Cloak, it is also relatively easy to obtain for players who have saved money from their time battling trainers across the Paldea Region. Once players accumulate 20,000 Pokedollars, they should make their way over to the town of Levincia.
Levincia is located in the East Province (Area Two) section of the Paldea Region. It is the location of the Electric type Gym and its Leader, Iono. It is also a large city in its own right, only a little bit smaller than Mesagoza. From Mesagoza, players can reach Levincia by leaving the east gate and following the road through the East Province (Area One) section of the Region until they reach Artazon.
Once they have, players can follow the road out of Artazon east, following the road as it begins to curve north around a series of smaller mountains. Players can continue to follow this road north until they come across a river over a bridge, beginning to move east again and following that road until it goes into the town of Levincia.
Players should be wary that a Team Star Base is in the area, and the team may be blocking the path to Levincia. Players can also take a taxi to any location that players may have visited before that are closer.
Like most other towns, it is also the location of a Delibird Presents, in which players can acquire a Covert Cloak for the aforementioned 20,000 Pokedollars.
Once players have their Covert Cloak, they will be ready to battle with Pokemon that rely on annoying moves, as they will now be protected from the most annoying of the effects.
