In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, a large selection of new held items have been introduced to the series for players to use to develop their strategies. Most of these items are unlocked by progressing through the game by claiming the many Gym Badges that can be earned throughout the story, though some of them can be obtained through other means.

One of these items that has been introduced is the Punching Glove, an item why can be used by the player to make any Pokemon that relays on certain types of moves stronger, while also protecting that Pokemon in the process. So, if players are interested in the idea of this offensive and defensive item, then here is how players can find themselves a Punching Glove.

Punching Glove

The Punching Glove is, as stated previously, only available starting the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet generation of Pokemon games. The new effect that it brings to players is that it empowers any move that is related to punching, with the exception of the move Sucker Punch as its name in the original Japanese has nothing to do with punching. The Punching increases the attack power of any move that involves punching by 10 percent, with the added benefit of preventing those moves from making contact with the enemy. This means that players will not need to consider abilities like Static or Rough Skin, nor will players need to be concerned about items that are affected by contact, such as the damage that would normally be caused by hitting a Pokemon with a Rocky Helmet that is being held.

These two effects can prove to be useful for getting the most damage that player can out of any punching style move that they use regularly, such as Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, or even moves such as Rage Fist that have been introduced in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The Punching Glove serves as a decent early to mid-game option for any player looking to squeeze all of the power they can out of these moves.

Acquiring a Punching Glove

Zapapico Map

There are two ways to acquire a Punching Glove in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The first is that players can head over toward the East Provice (Area Three) section of the map by the town of Zapapico. Once there, players will see a Pokemon League Representative near the Pokemon Center in the town. This Representative says that he will bestow a prize on players that have defeated 7 trainers in the area.

League Rep Asking

Once players have done so, they will find that the prize he gives them is a Punching Glove. This means its quite possible to do this early in the game, as players can rush over toward Zapapico and knock out these trainers for the glove, if they have Pokemon strong enough to handle the challenge.

Punching Glove Shop

The second method to acquire the Punching Glove is for players to continue to play through the story normally until they have managed to claim four Gym Badges for themselves. Once players have them, the Punching Gloves will be unlocked in the Mesagoza branch of Delibird Presents, where players can pick up a Punching Glove for 15,000 Pokedollars, or League Points if cash is short. Due to the ease of acquiring the item, the Punching Gloves will serve players well during the beginning of the game, and even late game players may find it useful, depending on the circumstances around the Pokemon they tend to fight more.
