Fire Blast is one of the most iconic moves in Pokemon, and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players can teach a wide variety of Pokemon the move using a TM. Players won’t have much trouble finding it, either.

While Pikachu’s Thunderbolt is the most iconic move in Pokemon and Thunderbolt is powerful in the games, fans will no doubt recognize the distinctive star pattern that pops up after landing Fire Blast. That motif has been around since the beginning and remains in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Players can enjoy it on dozens of different Pokemon once they pick up the Fire Blast TM.

Where to Get Fire Blast TM in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players can find the Fire Blast TM atop Casseroya Watch Tower No. 3. The item can be found after climbing the ladder to reach the top of the watch tower, and simply needs to be picked up off the ground. Players can do this before or after the battle with Casseroya Lake’s False Dragon Titan.

After getting the Fire Blast TM, players can freely craft more Fire Blast TMs at any Pokemon Center using the TM Machine. Fire Blast has a relatively steep cost, calling for 12,000 LP, five Numel Lava, three Torkoal Coal, and three Larvesta Fuzz.

Which is Better, Fire Blast or Flamethrower?

Flamethrower is the preferred fire move in Tera Raid battles, but Fire Blast can work in trainer battles and the story. This stems from the move’s accuracy penalty and reduced PP.

Fire Blast has decreased accuracy at an 85% hit rate for 110 damage. By comparison, Flamethrower has 90 damage for 100% accuracy. Both moves have a 10% chance to burn opposing Pokemon on impact, but Fire Blast has just five base PP compared with Flamethrower’s 15.

Because of fast traveling and the relatively fast pace of ranked battling in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Fire Blast can work in most situations. It’s not necessarily better than Flamethrower, but it is still fairly accurate at 85%. The extra power behind the move can justify the reduced accuracy and in the story mode, the fact players don’t have to worry about long treks through caves means its low PP count is manageable.

The one area where Flamethrower is the clear-cut preferred move over Fire Blast is in five and six-star Tera Raid battles. Even after using a PP Max, Fire Blast tops out at 8 PP which may not even be enough to get through the battle. On top of that, the decreased accuracy is much more problematic as a whiffed move can result in an extra turn being needed to Terrastalize. That makes Fire Blast more trouble than it’s worth in raids, leaving Flamethrower as the superior move.
