Each species of Pokemon can learn a variety of moves, whether it's through leveling up or TMs. Most of a Pokemon's TM pool will consist of moves that match the Pokemon's typing. However, there are TMs that can only be used by Starter Pokemon. These are: Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon, and for the first time, they're available as TMs in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.

Prior to Scarlet & Violet, Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon could only be learned via Move Tutor. Furthermore, the Starter Pokemon needed to have max friendship with its trainer. There aren't any Move Tutors in Paldea, so if trainers are looking to teach these moves to Meowscarada, Skeledirge, or Quaquaval, they will need to find their TMs.

TM153 to TM155 can all be found in the same cave. Thanks to Scarlet/Violet's open world, getting these TMs fairly early in each player's journey is possible.

The TMs can be found in a cave northeast of Glaseado Mountain. If players have discovered Montenevera, they should take a Flying Taxi to the mountain village and then go northeast to the orange flag icon in the above image.

Most of the Pokemon on Glaseado Mountain are Ice-type and around level 40. It's an ideal area to fill out some Pokedex entries or search for the Ghost/Dark-type Spiritomb along the way.

Scarlet/Violet players will realize they're getting closer to their destination when they reach the foot of the mountain. Go right and up the ledge to find the cave entrance. Inside, there are three yellow Poke Balls, each one a TM.

Should You Learn Frenzy Plant/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon?

Once players have obtained the Frenzy Plant/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon, they can now craft them at the TM Machine. Players will need the following materials and League Points to get more than one of each TM:

League Points

Pokemon Materials

Frenzy Plant (TM155)

1400

  • x8 Tropius Leaf
  • x5 Skiddo Leaf

Blast Burn (TM153)

1400

  • x5 Charcadet Soot
  • x3 Growlithe Fur
  • x8 Houndour Fang

Hydro Cannon (TM154)

1400

  • x5 Dondozo Whisker

  • Tropius and Dondozo materials can be farmed at Casseroya Lake.
  • Growlithe, Skiddo, and Charcadet materials can be found around South Province (Area Three).
  • Houndour Fangs can be farmed at the Inlet Grotto.

Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon are all Special moves, meaning their damage output is calculated by the user's Special Attack stat instead of Attack. They deal 150 damage, and each have a PP total of 5 (max with PP Max/Up: 8PP). Just like Hyper Beam, Frenzy Plant/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon are recharge moves, meaning they will waste a turn to "recharge" if used successfully.

Since they're all Special moves, they're best used on a Meowscarada, Skeledirge, or Quaquaval with a decent-great Special Attack. As Scarlet/Violet releases more Starter Pokemon into Paldea, others will be able to use TMs 153-155, such as the Fire/Flying-type Charizard and the Fire-type Cinderace.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are available for Nintendo Switch.
