Most casual Pokemon gamers don't care about the tactical aspect of Pokemon battles. As a result, casual gamers simply use a Pokemon's strongest attack move, like Hyper Beam or Tri Attack.
In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players will need to devise a strategy if they want to succeed in any battle, especially against other players. And Iron Defense is one move players will want to teach one of their Pokemon. But, unlike other TMs, players must search for this powerful defensive move across the vast land of Paldea.
Iron Defense TM 104 Explained
The TM 104 Iron Defense is a non-damaging move that will increase a Pokemon's defense by two stages. Iron Defense is one of the best defense-boosting moves, especially useful with Pokemon that are naturally tanky, like Tyranitar or Bastiodon. An excellent combination to use with Iron Defense is Stored Power (TM 041) since its attack increases based on the Pokemon's boosted stats, like Defense.
Iron Defense TM 104 Acquisition
In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players can obtain Iron Defense by various means, including the ability to make copies of it at the TM Machine. But, the easiest method is defeating the Fire Crew Base leader, which is part of the Starfall Street storyline. But, of course, players will need to have a team consisting of level 27 - 30 Pokemon since Mela's Pokemon are around that level range.
Additionally, players can craft TM 104 through the TM Machine. But, they'll need to have the following ingredients:
- 1500 League Points
- x3 Pineco Husk
- x3 Bronzor/Sinistea Fragments
Players can easily find Pineco within South Province (Area Three). As for Bronzor (Scarlet Only) is found in South Province (Area One) while Sinistea (Violet Only) is found near some Ruins in South Province (Area Six). League Points can easily be obtained by participating in Tera Raids or completing the Starfall Street story.
But, if players are having trouble beating Mela the Fire Crew Base leader or don't have time to farm the materials required to craft it, they can find a copy of TM 104 Iron Defense at the following locations:
On top a small mountain near South Province (Area Three)
Next to a Pokemon Center within a Fenced Digging site in East Province (Area Three)
Outside the Great Crater of Paldea (East) within East Province (Area One)
On a Ledge within North Province (Area One)
