In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players have the option of creating and using many different TMs, or Technical Machines, to teach their Pokemon many different moves to be used in battle. These TMs can be crafted as soon as they are found using the materials gathered from Pokemon defeated in battle or in the ground, meaning that TMs are a renewable source to teach moves to many different Pokemon.

Some of these TMs are difficult to find for the first time, however, depending on how useful the TM can be. One of these rare TMs is the Nasty Plot TM, which players can find by following this guide.RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How to Get the Earthquake TM

Nasty Plot

The move Nasty Plot is a Dark type status move that, when used by a Pokemon, will raise the Special Attack of the Pokemon that used it by two stages. This allows a Pokemon that is reliant on its Special Attack to grow significantly stronger for the battle, or until it’s stats are reset. This allows players to set up certain Pokemon as a special sweeper, making their offensive Pokemon even more powerful. But in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Nasty plot is a TM that is difficult to acquire in the early game, as there are two options for obtaining one, and both are activities that will likely require players to be in the late game.

First Way to get a Nasty Plot TM

The first way to obtain aTM of Nasty Plot is for players to go to the Great Crater of Paldea. This in turn requires players to have already beaten the three story modes of the game, as the door to the crater only unlocks after defeating the final boss trainers from the story modes of the game. From the Pokemon League, it is Nemona, The Big Boss of Team Star for Operation Starfall, and Arven after finding all of the Herba Mythica.

Three Final Bosses

Once players have unlocked the Great Crater, they will not be able to ride Koraidon and Miraidon just yet, and so they will need to complete the final story of the game before they can acquire the Nasty Plot TM that lies in the Great Crater. Once players have done so, they will be able to ride their Legendary Pokemon around the zone, and can explore more of the area as a result.

Research Cliff

Players should take advantage of this by taking a teleporter pad to the research station 2 in the Crater. Once there, players should exit the building, turning around and scaling the cliff behind them once they do. On top of this cliff is another little lip of rock, and on top of it lies one of the two Nasty Plot TMs in the game.

Second Way to Get a Nasty Plot TM

The second way to acquire the Nasty Plot TM also requires players to be far into the story of the game. This method is to speak to the history teacher Ms Raifory at the Academy and take her classes. Players will need to max their friendship with the Ms Raifort through finishing her classes and talking to her when finished. This prompt her to tell players about four treasures that came up during her classes where she will place on the map the location of four different shrines, each in a different area of Paldea.

Ms Raifort

Along with this, she tasks players to find ways to open these shrines, where she thinks the treasures are kept. These shrines in turn require that players find all of the Ominous Stakes that are scattered throughout Paldea. Doing so will unlock the shrines, allowing players to collect these treasures for themselves.

Ominous Stake

Going back and speaking to Ms Raifort when all four shrines have been opened and their treasures obtained, she will express her gratitude to players by awarding them with a TM of Nasty Plot.
