The best Tera Raid battle build for Azumarill will see the seemingly cute Pokemon transform into one of the most fearsome monsters in all of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The gen-two Pokemon becomes a wrecking ball that can one-shot many five-star raids and carry a team to victory in six and seven-star raids.

In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Azumarill doesn’t necessarily seem all that fearsome at a glance. Putting aside the fact that it’s a cute, round ball, its base stats aren’t all that impressive, either. At a combined 420 base stats, Azumarill looks comparable to Pokemon like Linoone and Raticate that get used early on in the story mode and tossed away shortly after catching a seventh Pokemon.

But with the right build, Azumarill can become one of the best options around for Tera Raid battles. Here’s how to put together a perfect Azumarill, including its best moves, ability, and more.

Best Azumarill Build in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The best Azumarill build leverages its solid bulk, strong coverage options, and access to the powerful Belly Drum move. With proper EV placement and the right ability, Azumarill can turn into a force of nature. Here’s a quick rundown of the components of a perfect Tera Raid build:

  • Ability: Huge Power
  • Nature: Adamant
  • EVs: 252 HP, 252 Attack, 6 Sp. Def
  • Item: Leftovers
  • Tera Type: Fairy

Without the right combination of tools, Azumarill is very limited in terms of its offensive output. With the right options, however, it’s a powerhouse.

This starts with the Huge Power ability, which doubles Azumarill’s paltry 50 base attack to an above-average 100. Add maximum attack EVs by giving it 26 Proteins from the Chansey Supply store and an Adamant Mint to let it hit as hard as possible. To accentuate its bulkiness, add in 26 HP Ups and one Zinc.

After this is done, raise it up to level 100. Unlike ranked battling, Pokemon get to keep all their levels in Tera Raid battles, so players should either grind their Azumarill to level 100 or use all their candies to raise it up.

The final step is to visit Montenevera and get some Hyper Training. Raise Azumarill’s HP, Attack, Defense, and Sp. Def stats to their maximum value. After all of this is done, it’s a matter of putting together Azumarill’s best moves.

Best Moves for Azumarill

Azumarill Using Belly Drum in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The best moves for Azumarill in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet include Belly Drum, Play Rough, and other coverage options.

Here is the best catch-all move set for a Tera Raid Azumarill:

  • Belly Drum
  • Liquidation
  • Play Rough
  • Ice Punch

Belly Drum is the centerpiece of this set. By teaching Azumarill Belly Drum, players help turn the Pokemon into a nuke. The move cuts Azumarill’s HP in half but gives it an attack boost comparable to using Swords Dance three times.

From there, Liquidation, Play Rough, and Ice Punch is a very strong move combination. Liquidation and Play Rough are good STAB options, while Ice Punch hits numerous types for super-effective damage and has a chance to freeze. Ice Punch could be swapped out for Ice Spinner for a bit more damage, but Brick Break is a serviceable alternative.

For a different, no-Belly Drum build, opt for an Assault Vest with Liquidation, Play Rough, Ice Punch, and Brick Break. This boosts Azumarill’s special bulkiness and gives it more attack options. This will require players to make TMs but is a great option for many Tera Raid opponents.
