Each mainline game entry added to the Pokemon series has its own quirks that make it stand out from all the other ones. Fans had already done everything they could with dynamaxing, so they wanted something else, and that is exactly what they got. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet added terastalization to the game, a unique power that allows Pokemon to turn into another type entirely. This ability changed the battling world drastically as it added hundreds of new possibilities for making new competitive teams.

There are particularly strong Pokemon with powerful Tera-types that can be found in special Pokemon Scarlet & Violet events called Tera Raids. This article will guide players through the Alolan Decidueye Tera Raid event so that they don't miss their chance to catch this Pokemon during the month of March.

How To Participate In The Tera Raid Event

A Tera Raid battle in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The Decidueye Tera Raid event will be live during the last two weeks of the month of March, so March 17 at 7 PM ET until March 19 at 6:59 PM ET and from March 24 at 7 PM ET until March 26 at 6:59 PM ET.

Just like many other Tera Raid events, this is a 7-Star Raid battle that gives players the opportunity to catch a special Pokemon with the Mightiest Mark. To participate in high-ranked Tera Raids, players have to complete the main story of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, beat all gym rematches, conquer the Ace Academy tournament, and complete at least ten 4-Star Raid battles.

Those that meet the requirements mentioned above will have access to the Decidueye Tera Raid event as long as it's live. To receive the necessary data to participate, players must connect their Switch to the internet and then visit the Poke Portal on the menu, select Mystery Gift, and check for Poke Portal News.

How To Catch Decidueye

During the Walking Wake and Iron Tails Paradox Tera Raid event, each Pokemon was exclusive to a specific game version. Thankfully, in this case, both copies of the game can catch Decidueye on their own.

Pokemon in Tera Raid events can only be caught after the trainer or a team member has made them faint. It can be tough to take down a high-leveled Pokemon during a Tera Raid, so players that own the Nintendo Switch Online membership should definitely take advantage of it and team up with a squad.

Decidueye is a Grass- and Ghost-Type Pokemon, and once it terastalizes, it becomes a Flying-Type Pokemon, which gives it better defenses against some of its previous weaknesses, such as Fire- and Bug-Type moves. Decidueye's Grass-Type moves are the ones that will hit the hardest, so the player should consider bringing a Fire- or a Steel-Type Pokemon to survive more powerful attacks.

Taking Pokemon with Electric- or Ice-Type is a great idea because they will always come out on top against Decidueye, both in terms of offense and defense. This Pokemon also has a weaker Defense stat than its Special Defense stat, so damage from physical attacks will cause more damage.

Ultimately, it's all about bringing the right Pokemon, the right moves, a useful battle item, and coordinating and strategizing with the other trainers. These events are great for farming XP; once the player has successfully caught Decidueye, they will be able to redo the same Tera Raid, but they won't be able to catch the Pokemon again during the event.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
