Three new playable combatants have just been confirmed for Street Fighter 6, including a pair of fan favorites from past entries and a brand-new World Warrior. The next installment in Capcom’s hard-hitting fighting franchise was first announced last February following a cryptic countdown, with the resulting Street Fighter 6 trailer giving fans a look at an aged Ryu in combat against Street Fighter 5 newcomer Luke.

In the many months since then, Capcom has been slowly pulling back the curtain on Street Fighter 6’s colorful new art style, sandbox-style World Tour campaign mode, and multiplayer Battle Hub lobby. Some of the game’s growing roster of playable fighters have also been unveiled, ranging from returning mainstays like Street Fighter 6's Chun-Li to newcomers like the drunken Kung-Fu fighter Jamie. With Street Fighter 6's release date still several months away, there is plenty of time for Capcom to reveal more of the ever-growing cast of martial artists players will be able to control and battle against.

Such an opportunity came during the latest PlayStation State of Play livestream, which provided viewers with a new Street Fighter 6 trailer. During this brief montage of gameplay footage, three new playable characters were unveiled. The first would be Zangief, the colossal Russian wrestler that players were first introduced to in 1991’s record-breaking Street Fighter 2. The second is Lilly, a brand-new character that calls upon spiritual forces to unleash devastating wind attacks against her foes. Finally there’s Cammy, the assassin-turned-M16 agent who made her first appearance in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers and brutalizes her opponents with powerful kicks and flips.

Diehard fighting game fans will soon get the chance to see more of Street Fighter 6 in action, as both Capcom Pro Tour 2023 and EVO 2023 will showcase the upcoming game ahead of its June 2 release date. Additionally, the first issue of a Street Fighter 6 prequel comic miniseries is set to be released during Free Comic Book on May 6.

Of course, the heart and soul of any great fighting game is the diverse assortment of playable characters - and Street Fighter 6 looks to deliver a blend of beloved mainstays and fresh faces. Zangief, Cammy, and Lilly are just the latest Street Fighter 6 characters to be revealed, and there will likely be many more in the months leading up to the game’s long-awaited launch.

Street Fighter 6 releases June 2 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
