Bleak Faith: Forsaken is coming very soon, based on the release date trailer that dropped recently. The game has a very soulslike style both in its combat and its appearance, and fans still riding high from the thrills of Elder Ring cannot wait to play it.
The origins of Bleak Faith: Forsaken can be traced back to Kickstarter. The reason why Archangel Studios chose that route is that, in its own words, "we want to crowdfund the game because we're building a game for gamers - not for investors." The game was made by only 3 developers and the Kickstarter has gathered $31,199 from 362 backers, not quite reaching the stretch goal that would've added companions at $50,000. Bleak Faith: Forsaken is categorized as a mix between cyberpunk and dark fantasy. It is set in the world of The Omnistructure and follows one of the Forsaken, hunters protecting what's left of humanity.
The trailer very much brings the Dark Souls essence that fans of the genre are used to, though the look of the world sets the game apart from its peers. It mixes Byzantine-like cityscapes and cold, industrial scenery, showcasing bizarre monsters that are a mix of flesh and mechanical parts. The trailer also showcases the customizability of its player character and the most important part: the gameplay. At the end, the release date is revealed to be March 10. For now, Bleak Faith: Forsaken is only expected to release on PC, but according to the Kickstarter page, there's a plan for a console release - although it will entirely depend on the studio getting the funding for it. It's said to be at the top of the studio's priorities, and the hope is it could happen a few months after the PC release, but nothing concrete is known at this time.
Due to COVID delaying the game, it arrived a lot later than the originally planned release in 2020. However, based on the comments underneath the trailer, it seems those who've been following the development of the game are just as excited to finally play it as ever. They praise how the game seems to hold true to a genuine Dark Souls feel among various other compliments. Fans want to reward the effort the devs have poured into the game, and they praise the team for the obvious love that went into the project.
