With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 less than a month away from release, fans are getting ready to say goodbye to some of their favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, & Co. have been a significant portion of the Marvel fandom for over a decade now, and many companies have found clever ways to celebrate the love for those characters. Hasbro is taking things up a notch with the Marvel Legends Star-Lord Electronic Role Play Helmet.

Based on the character's signature helmet from the films, the Star-Lord Helmet from Hasbro is a 1:1 scale reproduction and is perfect for wearing with a costume, playing around the house, or just putting on display. It is packed full of detail in every nook and cranny so that it looks great on the outside, and it has some really nice touches to ensure a secure fit while wearing it.

Although the Marvel Legends Star-Lord Helmet is releasing around the same time as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, its design is actually based on the Infinity Saga design. As a result, the helmet features some scuffs and scratches in a few places to give it that “damaged” look. Hasbro has done a great job of making sure that the helmet still retains its signature profile, though, so don’t worry about anything being distracting.

The helmet also includes lights and sound FX to give it a little added visual flair. On the user’s right side is an easily accessible button (meant to look like a piece of the helmet) that triggers red lights in the eyes and a sound effect. Think of the sound effect like Star-Lord's helmet transforming out of his earpiece as it does in the films. One press of the button triggers that sound effect and illuminates the eyes of the helmet, and subsequent presses will lower the brightness of the red lights for a total of three brightness levels.

All the appropriate detail is there on the helmet; this is a 1:1 scale reproduction after all. The helmet isn’t too heavy, so it won’t feel overly cumbersome while wearing, and there are some smart adjustments made to ensure it fits a variety of users.

To that point, pulling up the back of the helmet reveals a back strap that goes around the back of the head and holds most of the helmet in place, as well as a chin strap for getting things extra secure. Both straps (the back strap actually uses four anchor points) are attached to a wider piece of plastic material that can be easily adjusted for larger head shapes. We found the strap material was stretchy enough to get a snug fit right out of the box, but being able to make those sizing adjustments is crucial.

Because this is a 1:1 scale reproduction, there isn’t extra padding in the helmet to protect the user’s face should they make any aggressive movements. The back strap and chin strap do keep it in place, and the eyes of the helmet are translucent enough for the user to help see where they are going. Still, at the price level, we wouldn’t recommend using the helmet for intense play.

Whether it’s for a collection, a cosplay, or a little light play, the Hasbro Marvel Legends Star-Lord Electronic Role Play Helmet is a very impressive way for Guardians of the Galaxy fans to show their love for the character. Hasbro has packed a ton of detail into the helmet, while also making it functional. The lights and sound FX are an important touch, but even without that, this would be a worthy piece for any fan.

Hasbro's Marvel Legends Star-Lord Electronic Role Play Helmet is available on Hasbro Pulse for $131.99.
