The name of a Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can often be a major hint at its solution. The infamous "Courage to Fall" Shrine is a hint that players must actually touch lasers to activate, and fall through, a ground trap. Jikais Shrine doesn't quite trick players the same way, but its many rooms are all themed around the concept of breaking out of jail.

Jikais Shrine, subtitled "Jailbreak", is one of the more imaginative Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom, with puzzles that test players' ability to get past otherwise impassable obstacles. It's not so easy to break out of jail, even with Link's suite of new abilities – players will have to not only think outside the box, but by the end, they will have to literally look outside the box for a solution, too.

How To Get To Jikais Shrine

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Jikais Shrine Location Mount Lanayru

Jikais Shrine is located on Mount Lanayru, which itself is just southeast of Zora's Domain and just north of Hateno Village and its Research Lab. Mount Lanayru is quite the chilly environment, so be prepared to face the cold with some warming foods – try cooking with Hot Peppers for an easy cold-resist effect, or purchase the Snowquill set for its permanent effect.

The coordinates for Jikais Shrine are (4264, -1667, 0181), and the most efficient time to tackle this shrine is either right after or on the way to activating the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. It's practically a beacon against the mountain's snowy ground, and hard to miss if heading to Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower from Hateno Village.

Jikais Shrine Walkthrough (Jailbreak)

The first room in Jikais Shrine challenges players to scale a tall wall with a combination of Ultrahand and Ascend. There are some moveable blocks on rails on both sides of the wall, but Link can't simply climb up the side of these.

Instead, players must adjust them so Link can Ascend upward and reach the next room. On the right side, move the bottom block to the right and the top block to the left. On the left side of the room, move the top block all the way to the right so that it's right underneath the alcove with a torch in it.

Ascend upward through the right side, paraglide over to the left side, then Ascend again through this uppermost block. Jump into the alcove, then Ascend to reach the next room. Here players will see the Shrine Chest and a large stone platform.

Use Ultrahand on the platform and drag it to the end of the room, long side facing Link, and balance it so one side goes a little bit over the right-side edge. Walk over to the overhanging part of the stone platform, switch to Ascend, then burrow upward to reach the final rooman "inescapable" prison cell.

Things would be much more dire if Link didn't have the ability to manipulate his surroundings with Ultrahand – look on the outside of the non-climbable bars to see another stone platform like the one Link just used. Pick it up with Ultrahand, drag it inside the cell, then either lean it against the bars and walk up it, or climb on and Recall to have it carry Link out. Once you've successfully completed this jailbreak puzzle, walk over to the end of the Shrine to receive a Light of Blessing.

How To Get The Jikais Shrine Chest

The chest in Jikais Shrine is located in the second "room," where Link must balance a stone platform off an edge to Ascend to the final room. Players should see a metal platform up above with the Chest on it – getting this one is as easy as using Ascend just below it. Inside this chest players will find a Magic Staff, which gains spell-like effects when Fused to a gemstone.
