Link isn't the only person in Hyrule trying to deal with the monsters that plague the world post-calamity. Regular folk across the land have banded together as members of the Monster Control Crew, tasked with ridding Hyrule of the monsters Ganon left in his wake.

Different captains and different squads can be found in a variety of areas across The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but the first that most players tackle is in Hyrule Field. Indeed, Hyrule Field is one of the first places players visit in Tears of the Kingdom as they head for Lookout Landing, but finding Captain Hoz – and helping his crew take on a horde of monsters – can be a task easier said than done.

Where Is Captain Hoz and the Monster Control Crew in Hyrule Field?

In the basement emergency shelter in Lookout Landing, several members of the Monster Control Crew and Survey Team will point Link towards fellow fighters in other areas. The first group of Monster Control Crew members is in Hyrule Field, just south of Lookout Landing in the Hyrule Garrison Ruins.

From the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, head directly south until you see a small set of ruins around the coordinates (-0610, 0539, 0056). Upon landing somewhere in the vicinity, a group of monster slayers should show up and start walking toward a group of Bokoblins in the ruins. Players can either talk to Captain Hoz to hear more about the assault, or just watch and join in when the fighting begins.

Link can stay on the sidelines and watch the Monster Control Crew take on the enemies, or join in and significantly speed things up. In Bring Peace to Hyrule Field, players don't have to worry about facing ridiculously difficult enemies, though this type of quest does get much harder in other iterations across Hyrule.

This early in the game, the Monster Forces should be mostly regular Bokoblins and maybe a Moblin or two. If you have Muddle Buds, fuse one to an arrow and fire it at a group of enemies to make them all attack each other. Arrows in general are a great strategy against enemies that don't have a shield, but most weapons above 15 attack or so should make quick work of the enemies in melee.

If players find themselves getting hit by enemies consistently, consider equipping a strong shield and a one-handed weapon – or, build a Zonai machine to do the work on its own. A flame emitter, laser, cannon, or other offensive device will do wonders, but be careful where it's being aimed or it could hit Link or his companions.

Once every last monster is defeated at the Hyrule Garrison Ruins, Captain Hoz will call Link over and thank him for his help. For his direct service in helping the Monster Control Crew, Captain Hoz will give Link a Silver Rupee, worth 100 Rupees.

This being the first part of the Bring Peace side adventure, Captain Hoz also informs Link of his crew's next movements. After finishing up in Hyrule Field, Captain Hoz and his squad head to Fort Hateno in the Necluda region, which has also been occupied by monsters that threaten the village nearby. By following these series of quests, Link can earn a good amount of Rupees, and help clear out some of Ganon's forces to make travel a little safer in those areas for regular folk.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
