The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers a ton of new Shrines, called Shrines of Light, for players to track down – 152, to be exact. Although every single Shrine is unique, not all of their puzzles are found on the inside. For most Rauru's Blessing Shrines, a challenge must be completed outside to gain entry.

Many of these Tears of the Kingdom challenges task the player with bringing a green crystal to a specific location, where it will transform into a proper-sized Shrine. To get into Joniu Shrine, players must ferry one such green crystal through a series of subterranean waterways. Thankfully, everything Link needs to make a functional, steerable boat is right there on the shore next to the crystal.

Joniu Shrine Location

Joniu Shrine is not found in the overworld of Hyrule, rather it's found in one of the new underground caves that dot its surface – not the depths, the areas that are marked with a unique "Discovery!" text box when Link finds them for the first time. Joniu Shrine exists at the end of the Ralis Channel, near Zora's Domain at the coordinates (2913, 0185, 0154).

Upon entering the cave, players will notice a familiar green crystal on the ground. This green crystal will turn into a Shrine if brought to the correct place – in the case of Joniu Shrine, this place is at the very end of the flooded cave.

To get there, players need to make a vehicle that can propel itself across the waters. Luckily, everything Link needs to make a functional boat is right there.

Upon arriving in the Ralis Channel, players will see the flooded caves ahead, and a number of devices to the right on the shoreline. Using these devices, Link can fashion a pretty speedy little vehicle to bring the green crystal to the location it beckons players to. Interact with the green crystal to see a green light that connects the crystal and its goal location, then get building.

The easiest and arguably most efficient boat a player can make uses one fan, a wooden plank, and a steering stick – and crafty players don't even need the steering stick. There are a few fans, wooden platforms, and a steering stick on or near the shore. With Ultrahand, attach a fan (or two) to the short edge of the wooden platform, facing backward, then attach a Steering Stick to the center of the vessel's hull. Finally, stick the green crystal somewhere in the middle of the boat to keep it from tipping – just ahead of the Steering Stick tends to work just fine.

Once the parts are all put together, jump into the steering stick seat and get ready for the ride. The Ralis Channel is relatively wide, and there aren't many particularly sharp turns, so a boat as simple as described above should be enough to get to the end. Once the Shrine is in sight, and once players reach its shore, detach the green crystal from the boat and bring it to the Zonai terminal.

The green crystal should point to this location, so lift it up with Ultrahand, drag it over here, then watch the cutscene play as the gem turns into Joniu Shrine. This is a Rauru's Blessing Shrine, so players only need to walk in, collect the treasure, and receive their Light of Blessing. Once completed, head outside and use Ascend for an easy escape from the Ralis Channel.

What's In The Joniu Shrine Chest?

The Joniu Shrine Chest, being a simple Rauru's Blessing type of Shrine, doesn't require players to go out of their way as it's found right at the entrance. Inside, players will find a Large Zonai Charge, which can be exchanged at Dispensers for Zonai Devices, or used to replenish Link's battery on the go.

On the way to Joniu Shrine, though, players will be able to spot an off-shoot cave. Head inside this cave to find a Bubbulfrog, which drops one Bubbul Gem for use at Kilton's monster parts shop.
