One Pokemon fan has created controller stands based on Charizard. As one of the most popular Pokemon in the series, there is no shortage of Charizard fan art on the internet. However, few pieces of fan art are as functional as these controller stands based on the Fire/Flying Pokemon.
One of the reasons for the popularity of Charizard within the Pokemon community is its connection to the beginning of the series. Fans have known about the Pokemon for a long time as it is the final form of Charmander, which is one of the original Kanto starters from Pokemon Red and Blue. In addition to its history in the franchise, Charizard features a striking draconic design. Recently, one fan thought the head of the impressive Pokemon could serve a real word purpose.
Taking to Reddit, a user known as Excellent_Echidna_95 shared a picture of a recent Pokemon-themed project they had completed. Specifically, the Reddit user had made controller stands that had a stunning resemblance to Charizard. In the image shared by the creator were eight models of Charizard, each with a different color variety. While these Charizard heads were impressive, the fact they function as controller stands made the Pokemon fan art stand out even more. It is worth noting that the stands work for many types of devices, as the picture shows Xbox and GameCube controllers resting on top of the heads. Furthermore, a couple of other stands held a smartphone and what appeared to be a Nintendo 3DS.
When posting their fan art to Reddit, Excellent_Echidna_95 said this was one of their best projects and included a fire image, signifying their approval of the design. Many Pokemon fans have taken notice of the controller stands, with several users noting how much they enjoyed the Pokemon-inspired design. In addition, the popularity of the fan art was evidenced by the several hundred upvotes that the post received in less than a day. Beyond the compliments, many gamers were anxious for the opportunity to get one of their own Charizard controller stands, asking the creator if they were on Etsy.
While Charizard made the perfect controller stand, fans have made other real-life objects based on popular pocket monsters. In fact, another gamer recently made a life-sized stained glass statue of Squirtle. With Excellent_Echidna_95’s Charizard creations now complete, it will be interesting to see if they make additional controller stands based on other Pokemon, or if it inspires others to do the same. While it could be challenging to find another creature design with the correct shape to work as a stand, with more than 1,000 Pokemon featured in the franchise, the chances are good that there are other viable options.
