Konami has answered some of the gaming community's most burning questions regarding the development team behind the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. One of the answers addresses whether the famed creator of the series, Hideo Kojima, was involved in the production of the remake also known as Metal Gear Solid Delta.

Fans were wondering where the lauded franchise would go after the fallout that Konami had with series director Hideo Kojima. After the news of a Silent Hill revival, it seemed as if the company was committed to bringing back its status as a renowned game publisher. The Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake was long rumored to be in development several times until it was finally confirmed to be a reality during the PlayStation showcase earlier this month. Later, it was revealed that the developers in charge of the project were a team consisting of Konami’s staff in conjunction with Virtuos, with the latter having worked as a supporting studio for many popular IPs such as Final Fantasy, Dark Souls, and NieR: Automata.

Recently, a Konami spokesperson talked about Hideo Kojima and his involvement with the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. Unfortunately, the renowned director has been confirmed to not be involved in the remake's development. However, the spokesperson mentioned that the team will be working hard to uphold the legacy brought by his work, stating that it "will work hard to create this remake and also the ports (for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection) so that they can be enjoyed on multiple platforms by even more players all around the world."

Metal Gear Solid Delta Order

The Konami spokesperson also discussed the choice behind the project's name, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. According to them, "The Delta symbol (Δ) was chosen because its meaning fits the concept of the remake project. Delta is a character from the Greek alphabet that means ‘change’ or ‘difference’ in mathematics and variables, and also has the meaning of changing an amount without changing the structure." This means that the story in the game will not be altered. Metal Gear Solid 3 will retain the elements that made it resonate with many audiences.

Another question that was asked involves the reasoning behind remaking Metal Gear Solid 3. The spokesperson explained that the decision came from how this title was the first game in the timeline that kicked off the story behind Metal Gear Solid as a series. They also talked about how this remake was, in fact, one of its most requested games for a long time, which further encouraged the decision. The possibility of other games in the series getting the remake treatment was also mentioned during the interview, with Konami being stated to be paying close attention to player demand, which will allow it to consider its approach accordingly. As such, whether there will be remakes of the first two games in the Metal Gear Solid series can be assumed to depend on Delta's reception.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
