A Stardew Valley player somehow ends up with two cats in their in-game home despite having only one pet to call their own. The second cat raises questions for some Stardew Valley players, but many welcome the cat into the player's home after its sudden appearance.

The Stardew Valley community continues to enjoy the popular farming simulation RPG nearly seven years after its launch. In 2023, developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone is still working on new Stardew Valley updates while developing his next major project, Haunted Chocolatier. The 1.6 update for Stardew Valley will be less significant when compared to prior updates, but the community eagerly looks forward to new content nonetheless. While waiting for the new update, Stardew Valley players keep cultivating their land and sharing their experiences with others through online forums and social media.

Stardew Valley player SomeMorningBrown recently discovered that another cat is living in their home and questions where it may have originated from. The new cat is essentially identical to SomeMorningBrown's cat, so the user is seemingly struggling to notice which cat is their actual pet. This particular cat appears to have been caused by a glitch, but some speculate it may be due to Stardew Valley's Strange Capsule event, which may occur randomly.

Some Stardew Valley glitches still persist despite the amount of updates that have been released in the past seven years. For example, a well-known Stardew Valley glitch may change the name of a player's wine without warning, resulting in wine that appears to be made out of inedible objects. Other glitches may serve as exploits, allowing the player to duplicate money and items for their own benefit. The use of Stardew Valley mods may also lead to glitches with unintended effects in the player's game world.

SomeMorningBrown's new cat appears to be the result of some kind of duplication glitch in Stardew Valley, but the exact origins of the cat remain shrouded in mystery. At the very least, SomeMorningBrown's pet now has a twin to share a home with.

Very few details have been revealed about Stardew Valley update 1.6, but the update is confirmed to feature new content. Additionally, the new update will bring changes to mod support in order to make the modding experience easier for all Stardew Valley players. Bug fixes are also expected in the 1.6 update, but it remains to be seen whether duplication glitches will be addressed.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
