One fan of Mario Kart 8 creates an entirely new course for the game, which takes inspiration from the seminal Nintendo 64 title, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Even with the existence of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch, the way was first paved by its original version on the Wii U. Despite being on two different platforms, both games have rather active modding communities, especially through GameBanana. Modders have taken to adding new characters into Mario Kart 8, such as Princess Zelda, Minecraft's Steve, and even Metroid's Samus Aran.

It's also no surprise to see that modders have added a variety of new racetracks and courses to go through as well. This includes racetracks that are backported from past Mario Kart games, including the ones that were released as a part of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass, like Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour. Modders have also taken the liberty to create entirely brand-new courses that weren't from a past game, such as RiazorMC, who made a custom track based on the classic Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

This track was shown off in a video by RiazorMC, where they demonstrated what was included in this Mario Kart 8 custom track. It had famous landmarks and locations of the game, which were ripped straight from Ocarina of Time's 3DS remake. The race starts with the player racing through Lost Woods and into the mouth of the great Deku Tree before reaching the vast open Hyrule fields. From there, players enter the mountainous Gerudo Fortress, leading them to take a death-defying leap into Lake Hylia during the second lap, complete with a glider jump that leads into an underwater portion.

The last portion and final lap of the race occur after leaving Lake Hylia and reaching Hyrule Field again, where the player must race up to the top of Death Mountain. This includes a brief run through the mountainous village, before climbing up the mountain using a gravity pad and ending the race. Many fans praised this Mario Kart 8 track, as not only did it take them through these iconic locations it was built in a way that it was all interconnected. Others commented that despite the openness of the area, it could lead to racers getting lost, suggesting some guide rails can help steer players in the right direction.

RiazorMC has ported other tracks from past Mario Kart games into Mario Kart 8, such as Wario Colosseum or Moonview Highway, which are tracks that are currently not a part of the Booster Course Pass. They've also done other crazy mods, like a level that uses Pokemon Heart Gold's version of the Kanto Region in Super Mario Galaxy.

Mario Kart 8 is available for Wii U, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out now for Nintendo Switch.
