Xbox Game Pass has a bizarre new category for its games. This Xbox Game Pass category is extremely specific and caters to a small but passionate group of gamers who demand to see much more of their player character than some games provide.

Xbox Game Pass is commonly considered the video game equivalent of Netflix. For a monthly fee, users get to play as many games as they want, according to the plan they choose. Like so many streaming services, Game Pass also likes to recommend lists of games its users might enjoy. Some are algorithmically generated, while others are manually curated by Xbox and fit around a theme or genre.

A Reddit user who goes by the name of Beneficial_Food1010 on the Xbox Game Pass subreddit logged on to check out what Game Pass had to offer when they were greeted by an odd new category of games. The category is titled “We Demand You See Our Legs.” The subheader description of the collection reads, “Literally games that let you see your character’s legs.” Simple and to the point, yet the deadpan, straightforward nature of the category makes for one of the odder game classifications on an official storefront. But if players want to see FPS character legs, Game Pass is here to provide them.

As the category title and description suggest, the list of recommended titles is entirely made up of FPS games that allow the player to see the player character’s legs when they look down. The category includes games like Battlefield 2042, Dishonored 1 and 2, and Doom Eternal.

FPS games don’t always show their main character’s legs. The commonly accepted reason for that within the industry is that most gamers won’t take the time to look down far enough to check if the character even has legs. If players aren’t going to see legs, then it’s probably not always a bad idea to omit them.

No matter the size, video games are expensive endeavors that take a lot of time, money, and the effort of sometimes hundreds of people who are all trying to get the game out the door under budget and on time. If sacrificing legs on a character whose entire body the player will most likely never see outside their hands holding a gun, then so be it. But there will always be that subset of gamers for whom an FPS game character with no legs represents a break in emersion that takes them out of the experience. While not every FPS game on Game Pass can offer that subset what they want, at least Xbox has provided an entire category of games that can satisfy their needs.
