World of Warcraft recently began the first stage of the Diablo 4 crossover event. In order to earn some awesome Diablo 4-themed loot in World of Warcraft, players will need to fully understand how the event works.

A Greedy Emissary is the first of two Diablo 4 events coming to World of Warcraft to celebrate the action RPG’s impending launch. The event began on May 25, and runs for three weeks through June 14.

During A Greedy Emissary, a golden portal will appear on the world map every 30 minutes, though players must be in the zone to see where it spawns. Five minutes after it shows up, a Diablo 4 Treasure Goblin will pop out of it. Players of any level and faction can tag the Treasure Goblin in order to loot it, though players must do so quickly as the monster will usually die within a minute. The Treasure Goblin portal spawn swaps between Stormwind and Orgrimmar at the top of each hour, and then to a Dragonflight zone at the half-hour mark, cycling through the locations each hour in the following order: Ohn’ahran Plains, Azure Span, Thaldraszus, Valdrakken, and the Waking Shores.

World of Warcraft players have a chance to loot the following items from each Treasure Goblin they defeat:

  • Tyrael’s Charger, a mount originally offered in a Diablo 3 collaboration and later through the in-game store.
  • The Nightmare Banner toy.
  • The Treasure Nabbin’ Bag back cosmetic.
  • Baal’ial, a demonic red goat battle pet that unlocks the Little Lord of Lies achievement.
  • The Scroll of Town Portal hearthstone, Twelve-String Guitar toy, and Livestock Lochaber polearm from the Diablo 20-year anniversary event.
  • The Enmity Hood and Cloak, a cosmetic ensemble inspired by the Dark Wanderer.
  • A one-handed mace, two-handed mace, and off-hand inspired by Wirt’s Leg.
  • The Horadric Haversack, a 36-slot bag.
  • Charms that provide passive stat buffs outside of instances while in a player’s bag for the event’s duration.

The drop rates for each of these items vary, but Tyrael’s Charger and the Horadric Haversack are the rarest and most desirable items in the World of Warcraft event. These two items have an increased chance to drop on the first Treasure Goblin players defeat on their account each day, after which they become very rare. Other rewards have the same drop rate on subsequent Treasure Goblins.

Once A Greedy Emissary ends, World of Warcraft will start the Welcome to Sanctuary event. From June 15 through July 11, players will receive 50% more experience and 8% more reputation gains with all factions except the new Loamm Niffen from Embers of Neltharion. This will give players a reason to come back to Azeroth a couple of weeks after Diablo 4 is out.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
