A player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom created a scythe using Link's Fuse ability, but the weapon they fused together did not function as intended. The distressed gamer expressed their disappointment by sharing a video of their flawed design on social media, and other Tears of the Kingdom players quickly pointed out what they did wrong when the scythe was created.

With Link's Fuse ability, Tears of the Kingdom players are able to combine degraded weapons together with other weapons and various materials to bolster their attack power and create different effects to use in a fight. However, the part that is fused to a weapon does not last nearly as long as the actual weapon itself. However, some combinations can have quite potent effects depending on the situation and the opponent. However, one player found out the hard way that fusing a scythe together is not as easy as it looks.

On Reddit, a user named Smart-Potential-7520 shared a short, 8-second video of their scythe on the r/tearsofthekingdom subreddit. Using a Silver Lizalfos Horn as the scythe's blade, the OP fused the material onto a spear to create the makeshift scythe. While the scythe would look good with Link's Dark Armor set as far as appearances and screenshots go, the new scythe acted as any other spear would in Tears of the Kingdom. This meant that the weapon was thrust forward, rather than swung around like a greatsword or a giant hammer would have been. Suffice it to say, this did not sit well with the OP, who took to Reddit to share their disappointment with a sarcastic but appropriate title.

The post from Smart-Potential-7520 received over 1.9k upvotes on the r/tearsofthekingdom subreddit within a day. However, other players were quick to solve the problem that the OP had with their spear-handled scythe. In the thread, players pointed out that a long stick or a greatsword would have served as a better method of making a scythe swing like a two-handed weapon rather than a spear. One user suggested that the OP could attach a Lizal Boomerang to a two-handed weapon to provide a similar scythe, and a few other Redditors suggested attaching the horn to a Yiga clan greatsword or a Royal Greatsword to add a long curve to the shaft of the weapon.

Needless to say, the examples provided by Smart-Potential-7520 and other Tears of the Kingdom players showed that some weapon fusions are better than others, even early into the adventure. Given that the game has been out for two weeks, the shared creativity of Tears of the Kingdom players will not be slowing down on social media anytime soon.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
