Pokemon GO players can partake in the Spotlight Hour event today. For this week, the game is going with the Dark/Fire-type Pokemon Houndour. However, some players might not be so excited about it this time around.

Unfortunately, the dog Pokemon isn't really a good choice for players to use in Raid battles, at least if trainers are only using its evolution, Houndoom. However, its Mega Evolution is decent for raids. If players aren't too crazy about the creature as an attacker, there's a possibility of getting a Shiny variant in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO Houndour Spotlight Hour Times

Houndour is a Dark/Fire Pokemon type, first introduced in the second generation . The latest Spotlight Hour for May begins today, May 30, 2023, and will last for only an hour, starting at 6 pm to 7 pm local time. Players who want to participate will be pushed for time, but there are some rewards fans could receive while playing during this hour.

Can Houndour Be Shiny?

Pokemon-go-Houndour-shiny

Houndour has a Shiny variant that gives the Pokemon a blue tone versus the normal brown. To give more insight for players wanting to catch this Shiny Pokemon, the regular approximation for a Shiny to spawn is 1 in 500. This Pokemon is a rarer Shiny than others.

Unfortunately, there are no ways to boost the chances of getting a Shiny Houndour other than the chance of it being boosted during a special event like a Community Day or a Safari Zone. Sometimes they can appear in a Legendary Raid.

A tip for players to use today during the Spotlight Hour is to activate an incense. This will attract even more wild Pokemon for a short time, which will bring more Houndour encounters, which then raises the chances of getting a Shiny Houndour. The likelihood of getting more than one Shiny is unlikely, even during events in Pokemon GO.

Remember that the Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour is an event that happens every week, and it will feature one Pokemon where the spawn encounters are higher while in the wild. Be sure to get on to claim some Houndours before time runs out.

Some bonuses players can receive while playing are extra Candy, Stardust, and XP. All Spotlight events occur every Tuesday between 6 pm and 7 pm local time. The event always only last an hour.
