The total number of distinct Pokemon species has exceeded 1,000 with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and one creative member of the game's community has redesigned some of the shiny versions of their favorite Pokemon from the Paldea region. Between the Paradox Pokemon and the plethora of regular new critters introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the latest games have delivered no shortage of awesome creature designs that have sparked creativity within the minds of artistic fans.

Shiny Pokemon play just as big a part in the latest installments of the Pokemon series as they have since they were introduced in the Generation 2 games. These alternatively-colored Pokemon have an incredibly low base spawn rate, making them a coveted prize for players willing to seek them out. Shiny hunting itself has been a popular activity among Pokemon fans for years, and while it can prove to be extremely time-consuming, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have continued to evolve the shiny hunting process to some extent by implementing new mechanics that make it more likely to encounter them.

Not every Pokemon's shiny form appeals to fans, though, and many have taken it upon themselves to redesign some shiny Pokemon to fit their own liking. This is the case for one member of the community named awesomecat42 on Reddit, who has done a series of shiny redesigns which they've shared in a number of posts on the site. Some of their latest designs focus on trying out different color themes for Ceruledge, Armarouge, Maushold, and Gholdengo, along with the three Paldean starter Pokemon and their respective evolution lines. Rather than just going for a single recolor, each of these Pokemon has been given a variety of different colorations to fit certain themes.

A big problem with certain shiny Pokemon, particularly some encountered throughout the Paldea region, is that their shiny forms are nearly indistinguishable from their regular appearances. This can certainly make it difficult to spot these rare Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's more open environments. This isn't the only issue with shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet either, as some players have demonstrated how it's even possible for shinies to spawn outside of the map bounds.

This is just one of many technical flaws that is frequently made apparent in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The games have been notorious for a collection of similar bugs and performance issues which have plagued them since they released late last year, resulting in the Generation 9 titles receiving an abundance of criticism and the lowest Metacritic score out of any core-series Pokemon games. Numerous patches released since launch have sadly done little to solve the games' most glaring flaws, and many fans have complained about glitches that are affecting the popular multiplayer Tera Raid events.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
