A Pokemon GO player gets incredibly lucky during a Shadow Raid and shows other players a special Beldum caught by them. Pokemon GO's latest event is underway, bringing players two new features.

The Rising Shadows event marks the debut of Shadow Raids in Pokemon GO, bringing a variant of the normal Raids inspired by Team Rocket GO's participation in the game. The same event also marks the debut of the Master Ball in Pokemon GO, a feature on which players have been waiting for years. Players can obtain the item through Let's Go Special Research which is part of Season 10: Rising Heroes. It is worth noting that Pokemon GO Season 10 ends on June 1, so players should hurry to progress through the research to the fifth step and receive the Master Ball as a reward.

Reddit user DiamondCat777 shared an incredibly lucky find made during a Shadow Raid, where the player caught a shiny Shadow Beldum. Introduced in Gen 3, Beldum is a Steel/Psychic-type Pokemon whose final form is the pseudo-legendary Pokemon Metagross. As part of Pokemon GO's Rising Shadows event, Beldum is available in one-star Raids with a shiny chance. The Beldum caught by the player has a CP of 682, which is significant, as the Pokemon's maximum possible CP is 1104. In addition to being a shiny Shadow Beldum, which makes the Pokemon quite rare, and relatively strong because of the CP, the Beldum caught by DiamondCat777 has almost perfect IVs. IVs are an aspect of Pokemon games of particular interest to players who plan to assemble a strong squad for competitive play.

Shadow Raids were leaked in March when popular data miners Poke Miners revealed that Niantic was developing the new feature. This Raid mode is an alternative way for players to catch Shadow Pokemon, which is currently only possible as a reward for defeating Team Rocket GO. Shadow Raids also introduced a new mechanic to Pokemon GO in the form of Shadow Shards and Purified Gems, two items used to make encounters with Raid bosses easier.

The Beldum caught by DiamondCat777 is not an impossible find, but it is a really rare one, especially since it happened shortly after the debut of Shadow Raids. For Pokemon GO players who want to try their luck, the Rising Shadows event runs until May 28. The event features raids with the legendary Regigigas and Tapu Fini and Mega Raids with Pinsir and Altaria. Players can also find Hisuian Qwilfish and Scraggy in the wild, the latter being a very rare and popular Pokemon among Pokemon GO players.

Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS.
