As the Xbox Series X/S enters its third year, Microsoft's platform is gradually amassing a respectable library. Consoles typically do not start to flourish until the latter half of their existence, once cross-gen stops being a priority and developers can focus exclusively on crafting projects for only the most modern systems. The Xbox Series X/S has yet to reach that point, although things are moving in that direction.

2022 produced many stellar games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands are all good-to-great, and they offer wildly different experiences from each other. While big releases slowed down a bit after the end of March, things started to pick up again in September and October with A Plague Tale: Requiem, Persona 5 Royal, Overwatch 2, Modern Warfare 2, and Grounded.

What Xbox games are coming soon? Which titles are expected to drop after 2023? Please note that the focus is on the North American release dates of Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. Expansions will also be listed.

Updated May 30, 2023: Over the last week, the upcoming Xbox games were added to the scheduler: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, Neva, Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean, The Plucky Squire, Teardown, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Marathon, Alone in the Dark, Toodee and Topdee, Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition, Railbound, Aery - The Lost Hero.

May 2023 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games

xbox games may 2023

May 2023 has been a decent month for gaming, even if Xbox hit a few speedbumps along the way. Starting the month on a polarizing note, Arkane's Redfall is a console Xbox exclusive that launched to a rather tepid reception. Garnering criticism for its performance and level design, the game does not rank among Arkane's best projects. The title is available on Game Pass.

Age of Wonders 4 is a 4x real-time strategy game and the franchise's first mainline entry in a while. Receiving a positive reception so far, this project should be a good pick for fans of the genre. After being a smash hit on current-generation hardware, Hogwarts Legacy has finally made its Xbox One debut.

May's second half includes a few noteworthy releases. Lego 2K Drive is a fun and creative kart racer. The final days of the month include releases in three massive licenses: Star Trek, Warhammer, and The Lord of the Rings. Two of those are worthy additions to their franchises.

July 2023 Xbox Series X/S & Xbox One Games

july 2023 xbox games

July 2023 might not be stacked with content at the moment, but the month has a couple of reasonably big titles scheduled for release. Unlike June's sequel-laden lineup, its successor is defined by exciting new properties. Capcom's Exoprimal casts players as superpowered characters who must take on armies of dinosaurs. A multiplayer-focused experience, the game looks like it could be fun, although it remains to be seen whether it has the longevity required to maintain an audience.

EA's Immortals of Aveum is a first-person shooter revolving around magic instead of guns. The single-player title has produced a couple of captivating trailers that showcase its explosive and stylish combat system, all the while providing a glimpse into the world and story. July 2023 also marks the start of a new Telltale adventure, with The Expanse releasing its first episode. The series will follow Camina Drummer, a fan favorite from the novels and Amazon's adaptation.

  • July 6: GYLT (XBX/S, XBO)
  • July 13: Ed-0: Zombie Uprising (XBX/S)

Microsoft has quite a few massive console exclusives announced for 2023 as well. Starfield is about as big of a title as they come, and Bethesda's sci-fi RPG will undoubtedly dominate discourse when it debuts. Racing aficionados should keep an eye out for Forza Motorsport.

Major Xbox Games In Development With No Release Year Or A Post-2023 Estimation

- beyond good evil 2, outer worlds 2, hellblade 2

"Coming soon" can mean anything from a few months to a couple of years. Beyond Good and Evil 2, Dragon Age 4, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 are all in development, but players will have to wait patiently to learn when these games will be made available to play.

There are so many exciting announced projects that will eventually come to the Xbox Series X/S, some of which have revealed very little information about themselves. The Elder Scrolls 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Ark 2 are all highly-anticipated titles that could still be a long way off from becoming a reality, and these projects are just the tip of the iceberg.

Rumored Xbox Games

Just because a project has not been officially announced doesn't mean it cannot be discussed. Some rumored games, such as Gears 6, should happen sooner or later.

All these games are suspect to speculation and nothing more. Therefore, they should all be taken with a grain of salt.
