With the release of Disney Plus' Ahsoka quickly approaching, Star Wars fans are wondering what is in store for Ahsoka and her allies - specifically, what's in store for Ezra Bridger. Natasha Liu Bordizzo may have just offered fans a hint.

Liu Bordizzo plays Sabine Wren, who first appeared in Star Wars Rebels. Sabine is an ex-Empire Mandalorian with a knack for weaponry and a passion for graffiti art. She has connections to many characters in the Star Wars universe, including Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kryze, Paz Vizsla, and Ezra Bridger. Though many of her connections will probably come into play - especially her connection with Ahsoka - the one that's been of interest to fans is Ezra Bridger, who was also introduced in Star Wars Rebels. Details about Ezra's role in the show are still mostly unknown, but Liu Bordizzo recently gave fans a little peek behind the curtain.

Liu Bordizzo discussed her role in Ahsoka on Entertainment Weekly's Dagobah Dispatch podcast. "She’s been through a lot, and she’s still a stubborn cookie," she said about what her character has been doing since the end of Star Wars Rebels. "But, I think that you find her… at the end of Rebels, she was a huge part of the liberation of Lothal, and many regard her as this hero, but she so does not feel that way about herself. She’s only thinking about the obligation she has towards her friend, so she’s got that mission in mind, not her hero status. And she’s got a huge journey to go on with Ahsoka. So we find her at the start of that." Although it is Ahsoka's show, Sabine's focus will seemingly be Ezra.

Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren in Star Wars Rebels

The Star Wars Rebels series finale saw Ezra sacrifice himself and leave his friends behind to ensure that Grand Admiral Thrawn would be defeated for good. Sabine and Ahsoka resolved to find Ezra and rescue him from Thrawn's clutches. Based on what Liu Bordizzo has said about her character's role in the show, Ahsoka will seemingly pick up somewhere along Sabine and Ahsoka's journey to find Ezra. And since it's been confirmed that Lars Mikkelsen will appear in the show as Thrawn, audiences can safely assume that Ezra's plan to defeat Thrawn didn't go as planned.

Another reasonable assumption would be that Ezra is still with Thrawn, wherever he is. Previously, Dave Filoni stated that while Ahsoka won't serve as another season of Star Wars Rebels, it will continue to explore story threads that began in Star Wars Rebels. Since it's been confirmed that Ezra and Thrawn will appear in Ahsoka, Ahsoka and Sabine will probably find both at some point. The real question is: in what state will they find them? Will Thrawn have finally corrupted Ezra and brought him under the thumb of the Dark Side of the Force? Are Thrawn and Ezra even in the same place anymore? Questions abound, but one thing is certain: Ezra Bridger's story isn't over.

Ahsoka premieres on Disney Plus in August 2023.
