Naughty Dog has revealed that it’s working on a brand-new single-player game. Naughty Dog is one of Sony’s biggest studios, and many of its games have won awards at the end of their respective launch years. As an example, The Last of Us Part 2 won the award for the best game of 2020 at The Game Awards, while also winning in other categories such as narrative and audio design.

Naughty Dog has since released The Last of Us Part 1, a full remake of The Last of Us, on PS5 and PC, but there hasn’t been a completely new game from this studio in almost three years. As fans patiently wait for Naughty Dog’s next game, the developer recently shared some news with more information on titles currently in development.

In a new tweet, Naughty Dog gave fans an update on the games it’s working on, confirming that a new single-player title is in development at the studio. Naughty Dog has chosen the words “a brand new single-player experience,” hinting at it being a new IP, before announcing that the studio will share more information soon. The post ends with Naughty Dog thanking fans for their passion, stating that it continues to drive the development studio.

The single-player portion is just a small part of the full post, which is mainly dedicated to the multiplayer title set in The Last of Us universe. Naughty Dog confirmed that this The Last of Us multiplayer game will require more time, and it looks like the title has been internally delayed. Naughty Dog mentioned that its developers will continue to work on this project along with the other games, including the newly announced single-player title.

Sony hosted a special PlayStation Showcase event earlier in May 2023, revealing some new IPs and a full gameplay demo of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Many fans probably expected Naughty Dog to be present at this event, with an official unveiling of The Last of Us multiplayer project. Unfortunately, Naughty Dog was not a part of the presentation, resulting in a lot of confusion among the fan base.

A new rumor now suggests that Sony held back some titles for this PlayStation Showcase event, as leakers state more games are ready to be shown. It’ll be interesting to see when Sony decides to showcase these titles, and if any of Naughty Dog’s next games are unveiled at events not hosted by PlayStation, such as The Game Awards.
