Sydney Sweeney talked about her role as Spider-Woman in Sony's Madame Web movie and what fans can expect from the film. Sweeney, known for her role as Cassie Howard in HBO's Euphoria, was announced as part of the film in March 2022. However, her role was not revealed until very recently.

S.J. Clarkson is the director of Madame Web. She is known for her work on the Marvel series Jessica Jones and The Defenders, which recently moved from Netflix to Disney Plus. Madame Web will join Sony's live-action Spider-Man superhero universe, which includes Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies, Tom Hardy's Venom movies, and Jared Leto's Morbius. Sony also has a Kraven The Hunter film releasing soon, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

It was revealed that Sweeney plays the role of Julia Carpenter, the second Spider Woman. Sony is ensuring their stars keep quiet about the details of their roles and the film, as Sweeney told Total Film magazine, “I couldn't be more excited. I can't wait to be able to talk about it.” Sweeney also talked about her Madame Web co-stars and the film saying, “I can't wait to be able to be next to the girls that I filmed with – Dakota and Isabela, and Celeste. We had so much fun together. And I'm really excited that it's just gonna be a powerhouse of badass females for the world to see.”

Also known as Arachne in the comics, Julia Carpenter took up the Madame Web mantle in 2010. Julia Carpenter can also be seen in one of the posters for Sony's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It is unknown whether the character will play a major role in Across the Spider-Verse or be one of the countless Spider-people in the background. However, Sweeney's live-action role in Madame Web is expected to be substantial.

Dakota Johnson is playing the role of Cassandra Webb in Madame Web. Cassandra Webb is a mutant who was blind most of her life and suffers from neurological deterioration, which has left her mostly paralyzed. However, she uses her psychic abilities to compensate and can use them to see what is happening throughout the Spider-Verse.

Alongside Sweeney and Johnson, other confirmed cast members include Isabela Merced, Celeste O'Connor, Emma Roberts, Zosia Mamet, and Adam Scott. What roles they will play in Madame Web have yet to be confirmed. Fans will still have to wait a while, as the Madame Web movie is set to release in 2024 after multiple delays.

Madame Web is currently set to release on February 16th, 2024.
