Sony has announced that the Japanese company will be bringing Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart to PC. The port is being handled by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Ratchet developer Insomniac Games. The game follows in the footsteps of other popular PC releases such as Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War.

The latest installment in the long-running 3D platformer franchise was a big hit when it was released in 2021 and is currently one of the highest-rated PlayStation 5 games to date. In May 2023, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was added to the PlayStation Plus Extra tier so that fans could download the latest adventure featuring the Lombax and Robot pairing. The PC port of Rift Apart is set to be released on July 26.

The PC version of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart comes with support for ultra-wide displays in 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9 (triple monitor support) resolutions, and DualSense compatibility so that PC gamers can experience haptic feedback and dynamic triggers. Although it is worth noting that controller features are limited to wired connections only.

Unlike the PS5 version, which gave players several performance and visual modes to choose from, the team at Nixxes Software has confirmed that Rift Apart will have an unlocked framerate. This will allow those with high-end rigs to push for both 4K and ray tracing visuals without sacrificing high framerates. Nixxes Software was bought by Sony to specifically develop PC ports so some fans will be happy that they will have more flexibility in how the game runs.

It is worth noting that the PC specifications have not been fully confirmed for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Crucially players who have yet to upgrade to an SSD may need to consider an upgrade. One of the reasons Rift Apart was not a cross-gen title is that it needed to utilize the PS5’s SSD to provide seamless transitions when it comes to players making use of the game’s rift mechanic that sends Ratchet to other areas of the map in an instant.

Insomniac Games is busy gearing up for the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 before moving onto Marvel’s Wolverine. With two big Marvel games in development, it seems it will be a while until the Lombax and Robot duo get another full-fledged outing. For fans of Ratchet and Clank, however, the PC port shows that Sony is still keen on growing the franchise even if another game is years away.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is available on PS5 and will launch for PC on July 26.
