Niantic has announced that the next season of Pokemon GO will kick off on June 1 and last until September 1. It's called the Season of Hidden Gems, and during these three months, fans can look forward to tons of new events, new Pokemon, Raid Battles, and much more. One of the first events trainers can prepare for is the Searching for Gold Research Day.

Searching for Gold Research Day Times

Pokemon GO players can participate in the Searching for Gold Research Day on Saturday, June 3 from 2 PM to 5 PM local time. In the next sections, we'll review the featured Pokemon, event bonuses, research tasks, and more.

Spawns

During the three-hour event, Pokemon GO players have a higher chance of encountering the following Pokemon. If there's an asterisk by its name, that means there's a chance for it to be Shiny:

  • Weedle*
  • Bellsprout*
  • Poochyena*
  • Buizel*
  • Tympole*
  • Shelmet*
  • Stufful*
  • Lickitung*
  • Azumarill*

Event Bonus

The Searching for Gold event bonus will turn some PokeStops gold without the need for Golden Lure Modules.

Catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul and evolve it into Gholdengo

It's worth noting that Roaming Form Gimmighoul will not appear at these special PokeStops, but players can still spin the PokeStop picture to potentially earn Gimmighoul Coins.

Field Research Tasks

The specific Field and Timed Research Tasks for the event are not live just yet, but we will update this section and the next one to include the information once we know more.

The Field Research Tasks can be found by spinning PokeStops during the event, which players can complete to earn encounters with the following Pokemon. The asterisk means it can be Shiny:

  • Caterpie*
  • Magikarp*
  • Nosepass*
  • Sableye*
  • Barboach*

Timed Research Tasks

As for the Timed Research Tasks, players must head to the in-game Pokemon GO shop and purchase a ticket for $1 to unlock them. It's worth noting that once the money is spent, players must complete the tasks and claim the rewards before the event ends, or else the money will go to waste. Fans should be able to hop into the store and get their tickets ahead of time starting on May 31 at 5 PM PT.

Pokemon GO is available for mobile devices.
