Releasing on June 29, AEW Fight Forever will be AEW's first foray into console and PC gaming with several features for wrestling fans to discover. The upcoming wrestling game includes a dense roster of AEW professional wrestlers, allowing fans to experience iconic matches and wrestling maneuvers seen on AEW programming in a new way. Moreover, AEW Fight Forever lets AEW fans enjoy new and original content, including mini-games and a robust customization suite.

AEW Fight Forever is AEW and THQ Nordic's first officially licensed wrestling game, which is developed by former WWE 2K series studio Yuke's. The game was originally announced at the inaugural AEW Games Special Event in November 2020, but the official title of AEW Fight Forever was established nearly two years later when THQ Nordic signed on as publisher. Instead of taking the simulation-based approach of WWE 2K, Yuke's implements a simple control scheme that harkens back to classic wrestling games from the late 90s and early 2000s. Kenny Omega and Yuke's specifically cite wrestling games like WWF No Mercy and WCW/nWo Revenge as inspiration for gameplay and features found in AEW Fight Forever.

AEW Fight Forever's Career and Customization Modes

AEW Fight Forever may be releasing much sooner than some players may be expecting if a new report is true.

AEW Fight Forever includes a story-driven career mode starring prominent AEW wrestlers on the current roster. In the career mode, players will rise up the AEW ranks in order to compete for the company's most prestigious title, the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Players will also have access to mini-games while playing through the career mode, including a baseball home run challenge set in a football stadium and over-the-top fitness exercises. Further, dining and intense training mini-games will aid the wrestler's progression toward becoming a viable competitor for the championship.

In addition to AEW Fight Forever's career mode, AEW fans may take advantage of various customization features. AEW Fight Forever lets users create and customize custom wrestlers, move-sets, entrances, teams, and arenas to their liking. These custom creations may be used in offline Exhibition matches and online multiplayer matches. AEW Fight Forever players may begin a new career mode playthrough with their newly created wrestler as well.

AEW Fight Forever Exhibition and Multiplayer Modes

AEW Fight Forever's latest potential issue circles around trademark confusion between AEW and independent promotion GCW.

Exhibition match types in AEW Fight Forever range from the typical Singles match seen in weekly AEW programming to the chaotic Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match. AEW fans may remember the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match from the AEW Revolution 2021 pay-per-view where Kenny Omega fought against Jon Moxley. Exhibition mode supports intergender matches, so wrestlers like Thunder Rosa and Adam Cole may face off in the ring for the first time ever in AEW Fight Forever. Additionally, more than different 40 weapons are at their disposal in hardcore match types like Unsanctioned Lights Out matches.

Multiplayer Exhibition matches may be played offline with up to four players in AEW Fight Forever. A separate online multiplayer mode will be available in AEW Fight Forever with support for up to four players in a single match. AEW Fight Forever's online multiplayer mode also allows two users to play together in co-op tag-team wrestling matches. Special tag-team sequences may be performed in online co-op, but AEW and THQ Nordic have not demonstrated the feature in actual gameplay footage just yet.

AEW Fight Forever launches June 29 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
