The Zorana Weapons in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are a bit unique compared to the weapons found in all the other Regions. First of all, there are a couple of different types instead of just one such as Zora Swords, Zora Longswords, Zora Shields, and Zora Spears. Secondly, all of the weapons have the Trait Water Warrior, which doubles their attack while Link is sopping wet.

Now, players are going to need a Zora Spear if they want to craft the Lightscale Trident, one of the best weapons with this Water Warrior Trait and one of the best weapons overall in Tears of the Kingdom. But, these Spears, in certain situations, can be even more difficult to find than Diamonds, so let's go over exactly where Zora Spears are found.

How Regional Weapons Work

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Link Obtaining Each Regional Weapon Side By Side

Regional Weapons in Tears of the Kingdom are basically the 'specialty weapons (or shields)' of that area of the map that usually correlate to the race of that Region as well. The Rito have their Swallow Bows in Hebra, the Goron of Death Mountain and the Eldin Mountains have their Cobble Crushers, the Gerudo in the Gerudo Desert have their Gerudo Scimitars/Shields, and the Zora under King Dorephan have all their Zora-named weapons, including Zora Spears.

Typically, Link is only able to find Regional Weapons in said Region. So, he's not (usually) going to find a Cobble Crusher all the way up at the top of one of the frigid Hebra Mountains. All of this is to say that Zora Spears are found in the beautiful yet constantly overcast Lanayru area of the map that encompasses the Lanayru Great Spring, Wetlands, and Mount Lanayru. And, players really shouldn't bother searching for them anywhere else, except for maybe the Depths directly under the Lanayru Region.

Where & How To Find Zora Spears

There are, on average, three different methods for locating Regional Weapons in TotK. They're obtained as rewards from Quests, found in specific Chests, or looted from the hands of monsters. Let's go over each of these methods in-depth so players know exactly where to find all the Zora Spears they should ever need.

Quest Reward(s)

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Zora Covered In Sludge And Same Zora Giving Link Zora Spear

As far as the most expert Zelda players can seem to find, there's only one Side Quest that gives a Zora Spear as a reward called 'Mired in Muck'.

To find this Side Quest, just head for the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower. Once there, players should not only see some muck blocking the door (clearing it unlocks the Skyview Tower) but also a Zora named Bazz near the Tower 'buried' in the muck. Using an Opal-fused weapon, a bit of Splash Fruit, or Chu Chu Jelly (anything that spawns water) players will wash away the muck on this Zora Guard and he'll then thank and gift Link with a Zora Spear in exchange.

Specific Chest Locations

Next up are the Chests that specifically have a Zora Spear inside (instead of a couple of different options like with Like Like Chests). There are only a few of these, so use the Spears inside sparingly:

  • The first one is found In a Chest buried in the ground near the smaller pond just southwest of Ralis Pond. This is one of the rare Chests that are sort of just...sitting there without Link having to do anything, so it should be clearly visible to players as they approach.
  • The second one is found in the dirt on the patch of land (above ground) between the Ulria Grotto East Cave entrances. Basically, look for the ruins of a home, and in the center of what used to be someone's house Link should see a dirt-covered Chest sticking out about halfway. Use Ultrahand to pop this right out of the dirt and grab the Zora Spear inside.

That's not all of the Zora Spears that can be found in Chests, but these are the Chests that are guaranteed to have a Spear inside 100 percent of the time.

Zora Spears Gathered From Enemies

Now for the best method of obtaining Zora Spears, farming known enemy locations or just fighting enemies in the Lanayru area and getting lucky. Not only will the Lizalfos (rarely) use Zora Spears as weapons, but Ice Likes in Caves drop Chests that can have Spears inside. To name a few locations that have easy-to-find Ice Likes in them:

  • Ancient Zora Waterworks
  • Upland Zorana Byroad
  • Tabahl Woods Cave

These Chests the Like Likes drop will pull from a random list of potential items as Link opens them, so they could contain a Zora Spear or any other Zora Weapon, sometimes they even have Lizal Shields. If this happens, simply wait until the next Blood Moon and kill these Ice Likes again. Alternatively, players can also save right before killing the Like Likes, then reload if the Chests they drop don't have a Zora Spear inside.

Additionally, players who have run out of all the other methods can also find a few Zora Spears down in the depths as the statues of Ancient Zora pointing the way may sometimes be holding one as well as the Spirits of Soldiers found on those tall piles of smooth stones. All in all, even without building the Lightscale Trident, Zora Spears (fused with some strong Material) are weapons that should almost always be in any expert player's inventory.
