One fan of Hogwarts Legacy recently took to the internet to show what happens whenever players cast the transfiguration spell on their phoenix, which yields a surprising result. Hogwarts Legacy has a variety of spells that players can utilize during the game's magic based combat, including iconic spells from the Harry Potter franchise such as depulso and revelio. While these spells function as players would expect, some spells like transfiguration can provide quite unexpected consequences.
The open world Harry Potter action-RPG released in February 2023, and shattered audience expectations with its overwhelmingly positive reviews and sales, despite the controversy Hogwarts Legacy faced at launch. Featured within the magic based game are a variety of spells and magic creatures from the Harry Potter franchise, including the iconic phoenix that fans of the Wizarding World have come to adore. One player took to Reddit to share what happens when players cast transfiguration, a spell that transforms whatever players cast it on into something else, on the aforementioned phoenix.
Reddit user Sevyfire shared the twenty-one-second clip, which shows the player casting transfiguration on the phoenix, before the phoenix turns into two galleons. Galleons serve as the in-game currency for Hogwarts Legacy. Sevyfire is seemingly shocked by the outcome, as they stop moving and simply stare at the sack of coins that used to be their phoenix. Luckily the phoenix wasn't gone forever, as Sevyfire noted in the post they found their phoenix back in the habitat shortly after they cast transfiguration on it.
Commenters on Sevyfire's post shared their own thoughts about the interesting result, with some responding in a comical fashion. One commenter jokingly writes "best I can do is 2 bucks," noting the low amount of gold that players receive for the seemingly rare creature. Other players expressed their concern about whether the phoenix came back, with one asking "it comes back?" It's clear that commenters didn't want Sevyfire to lose their phoenix permanently, especially because it's one of the rarer beasts within Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy is a faithful video game adaptation of the Harry Potter franchise, and continues to surprise players with its various spells and magical beasts that players can encounter during their journey throughout the Wizarding World.
