In these chapters of Hogwarts Legacy, it's finally time to head for the Map Chamber again, bringing Professor Fig and the book this time so that Rackham will stop being so cryptic about everything.
Placing the book on the Map Chamber pedestal in Hogwarts Legacy will activate the Map Chamber, causing a 3D map of the entire region around Hogwarts to appear beneath the glass floor. Professor Rackham then reveals that the Map Chamber will reveal four trials to hone player's skills with magic and educate them on Ancient Magic.
San Bakar's Tower
Despite some initial reluctance, Professor Rackham allows the player to begin the Trials immediately and reveals the location of the Trial at a nearby Tower due to the looming threat of Ranrok and the Goblin Rebellion. This immediately ends the chapter and begins the next, where players are tasked with investigating San Bakar's Tower.
At San Bakar's Tower, players discover Ranrok's Loyalists already hard at work trying to ruin their day. Professor Fig suggests use of the Disillusionment Charm to sneak around and investigate, which also introduces players to the use of Petrificus Totalus as a stealth attack to instantly eliminate weaker enemies and deal lots of damage to stronger ones. Try it out, and try using Basic Cast to lure enemies into position for a sneak attack. In the event players are spotted they can simply combat the goblins as normal.
Search the Goblin camp for loot and a note that shows what they are looking for, revealing that they're looking for something connected to "the names" but not explaining further. Keep exploring, and a Loyalist Assassin will arrive and force the player out of stealth. It's time for a fight. The goblins can be dealt massive damage by using Expelliarmus with Ancient Magic Throw Expertise to leave them weaponless while dealing huge damage. Tougher Goblins, like the aforementioned Assassin, can have shields and must have their shields broken with the appropriate spells.
After taking them out, loot the camp and follow Professor Fig into the tower itself. Climb the tower while using Revelio to locate items, and eventually, players will find a Portrait of Professor Rackham and catch him up on the events so far. He advises the protagonist on how to access a reservoir of ancient magic down below and gain access to the trial, and Professor Fig heads back to the Map Chamber.

Percival Rackham's Trial
After entering the trial and heading down the stairs, players find their way to an inactive gateway that leads out onto a chasm. Players should head down the stairs on the left or right and find another Ancient Magic Reservoir, which will activate the gateway above when used. Grab the chest behind the reservoir and then head upstairs to see that a bridge appears when looking through the gateway.
Heading across (grabbing the chests on the left and right sides of the bridge) and into the next room, past the second bridge that ripples when walked on, players will find another inactive gateway in a room full of similarly inactive Pensieve Protectors. Head straight across the room and check on the right for a chest, then head back towards the gate to find the Ancient Magic Reservoir, activate it, and head through the gate to carry on.
Once the player has made it most of the way through the large hall ahead, a Pensieve Protector and its allies will animate and attack. This is another time when Expelliarmus can be very effective, allowing players to neutralize their attacks and, with the Ancient Magic Throw upgrade, deal a ton of extra damage.
In the next room is a floating platform that can be moved with accio and a number of hooks to latch onto for moving it around once on it. Pull the platform over, jump onto it, and then pull it over to the pillar in the middle of the room. From here, pull it to the area on the right to access an ancient magic reservoir. Use the platform to ride back to the middle and grab another chest, then use the newly revealed handles to reach the corner where another chest can be found. Finally, pull the platform over to the other side of the gateway. Instead of immediately moving on, head through the gateway and pull the platform so it can be used to jump around the gateway and reach a chest on the far side, then hop back around and go back through to reach the next room.
The Pensieve Protectors here put up a fight, but after taking them down players can investigate the next puzzle. To solve this, players will need to go up the stairs on either side and pull the platform over to the Ancient Magic Reservoir floating on one side. This allows the player to hop onto the platform and activate the reservoir.
There is now a gate active that leads to a version of the room where nothing is blocking the platform from being moved to the other side. Pull the platform across and then head back through the gateway to put the walkway back, then use that walkway to get up to the platform and pull it to the far side of the room using the hook. A chest can also be accessed in the version of the room without the walkway by pulling the platform over to a ledge on the far left of the room (when looking into it from the entrance).
Head further in and check on the right for a chest, then take the left turn and fight the Pensieve Protectors in the next room. Once they're dealt with, head out to the area with another floating platform and activate the Ancient Magic Reservoir before getting on the platform. Use the platform and hooks to move around the gateway in the middle of the room and drop down for a chest, and then head through the gateway to see that a second platform exists when looking back through the gateway now.
Pull it close to the gateway and then move the other platform over and position it so it can be jumped onto, and then use it to reach the second platform by jumping through the gateway. Use the second platform and the accio spell to head for the exit. Grab all the chests and Wiggenweld Potions on the way up the stairs and to the door, because there's a boss coming up.
After crossing the bridge players will be accosted by multiple Pensieve Protectors in a circular arena, so make good use of spells to disrupt their attacks and use Protego and dodging to handle their highly damaging attacks. Don't stand too close to the edge of the arena, since some of their attacks can knock the player back and potentially off the edge for an instant kill. After they're down, a giant Pensieve Guardian will appear, and the boss fight begins.
This boss uses a stomp attack that sends a shockwave forward and can be avoided by dodging to the left or right. It can also begin creating a big energy ball, which can be detonated early by hitting the energy ball with a spell whose color matches the ball. So detonate purple energy balls with control spells like depulso or accio, for example. Whenever ancient magic is ready, use it to deal a hefty chunk of damage and drop the boss to its knees for a short time, allowing players to pepper it with attacks.
When the boss is getting up from being knocked onto its knees with ancient magic it will deal AOE damage via a shockwave, so players should back away quickly and stay outside the pale ring that appears after it goes down to avoid this. Once its health is depleted players are able to advance to the final room, view the Pensieve, and find a shortcut back to the Map Chamber.
The memory in the Pensieve showed Professor Rackham and Isidora Morganach discussing the proper use of Ancient Magic and having a disagreement over its use, before flashing forward to her becoming a Professor at Hogwarts and inviting the Keepers to her home that evening. In the Map Chamber, Professor Rookwood joins Professor Rackham in portrait form and is filled in on the events so far.
