Fantastic beasts have always played an important part in the Harry Potter universe and this is once again the case in Hogwarts Legacy. The game features numerous tameable beasts, many of which are treated to their own special beast-related side quests. This is certainly true of Mooncalves, which play a pivotal role in the "Take the Biscuit" side quest.

"Take the Biscuit" first becomes available once players have met up with Sebastian in Feldcroft as part of the main story. After that, Hogwarts Legacy players can trigger the quest by heading into Hogsmeade and speaking with a Goblin named Garnuff, who can be found lurking under a bridge in the southern part of the town.

After speaking with Garnuff, players will learn that his beloved pet Mooncalf Biscuit has been kidnapped by poachers, with the Goblin begging them to bring her safely back home to him. Assuming they agree, players should use the Floo Flames network to fast travel to Upper Hogsfield and then fly north on their broomstick until they have arrived at the Poacher's camp marked on their map.

The poachers here can be a little tricky due to how many of them there are and how cluttered the camp is, though using R1/RB to fling barrels and rocks at them can help to even the odds. Once players have dealt with all of the poachers, they should make their way over to the large cage and then cast Alohomora to free the imprisoned Mooncalves. That's when things suddenly get interesting.

Having been cooked up in the cage for so long, the Mooncalves will all run free, making it very difficult for players to rescue the beasts using the Nab Sack. Thankfully, none of them will leave the purple circle on the mini-map even when they're being chased. Despite this though, catching Biscuit can still be a little tricky due to how fast she runs and how large the circle is.

The best way to catch Biscuit is to use the Disillusionment charm to turn invisible and then sneak up on her, getting as close as possible before attempting to get her into the Nab Sack. She's fairly easy to spot, as although she is the same color as many of the other Mooncalves, locking onto her will lead to her being tagged as "Biscuit the Mooncalf" rather than just "Mooncalf" like the rest.

After catching Biscuit, players can return to Hogsmeade and speak with Garnuff again to turn in the quest. As with the "Birds of a Feather" side quest, players will have the option to keep Biscuit rather than return her, though as Garnuff genuinely seems to care for the little Mooncalf, most will likely opt to give her back. Whatever they choose, they'll receive 180 XP and 300 Galleons; 500 if they ask Garnuff for a reward.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.
