Hogwarts Legacy is full of side quests for players to complete, each with their own rewards. Some of these side quests are relatively quick and easy, while others take quite a lot of dedication and patience. One quest, in particular, requires players to track down Daedalian Keys and follow them to special House Cabinets to earn House Tokens.
Gather 16 of these, and players can open the locked chest in their Hogwarts house common room to receive the Relic House Uniform, a unique robe appearance option customized to the player's house and glows every time they cast a spell.
Of course, this whole endeavor is completely optional, and players don't need to complete this task in order to play through the story. Moreover, the reward for this is entirely cosmetic, meaning the Relic House Uniform won't increase the player's stats. Still, Hogwarts Legacy is just as much about looking good as it is about having good stats.
Updated on May 9th, 2023: Hogwarts Legacy has received a few updates since the game's launch back in February, and most importantly, it is now available on PS4 and Xbox One. Players wanting to obtain the Relic House Uniform that glows whenever they cast spells will still need to complete the Daedalian Keys side quest and find all 16 House Tokens. Following the guide below should give players everything they need to complete this long-winded and challenging quest.
Getting the Relic House Uniform in Hogwarts Legacy
Required Spells
For three of the 16 Daedalian Keys, players will need to know Alohomora, the Unlocking Charm. To get this spell, simply play through the story until the quest "The Caretaker's Lunar Lament" is unlocked (this happens after players complete the first of Percival Rackham's trials).
Starting The Daedalian Keys Sidequest
Before the Daedalian Keys even appear throughout the castle, players must complete a sidequest called "The Daedalian Keys." To do this, find Nellie Oggspire in the Transfiguration Courtyard and speak to her.
She will tell the player about Daedalian Keys and send the player off to try and find the first one. This is the easiest key to find out of the 16 because the quest will lead players right to it. Simply use the Charmed Compass and follow the path to find the key. After finding the key, follow it to the nearby House Cabinet.
Opening House Cabinets with Daedalian Keys
After following a Daedalian Key to a House Cabinet, players must complete a small minigame to open it. The key will float around the cabinet, and players must press the jump button to swat it as it passes over the lock. Do this correctly, and the cabinet will open.
Be careful with the timing, though, because if the player misses, the key will get flattened against the side of the cabinet. Thankfully, there's no limit on how many times the player can attempt this; it just takes more time for each miss.
Finishing the Daedalian Keys Sidequest
Opening the House Cabinet will reward players with a House Token. Bring this back to Nellie, and she will advise the player to take it to the House Chest in their common room. Players will need to find the other 15 keys and House Tokens in order to open it and claim their reward.
Finding the Other Daedalian Keys
Unlike Zenobia's "Gobs of Gobstones" quest, there's no particular order to find the other Daedalian Keys, but many of them are grouped close to others. Players should be able to follow the key to the House Cabinet, but in case they lose track of the key, the pictures below should help. Finally, Revelio will show the location of both nearby Daedalian Keys and House Cabinets. It's worth noting that the Daedalian Keys are in the same place regardless of what Hogwarts House the player is in.
Astronomy Wing Daedalian Keys
Fast travel to the "Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom" Floo Flame location. Go down the nearby stairs, and look for the rhinoceros-like skeleton. The key is floating around near it.
Once alerted, the key will lead the player back up the stairs, past the floo flame, and right to the cabinet.
The Grand Staircase Daedalian Keys
Fast travel to the "Grand Staircase Tower" Floo Flame location and start heading down the stairs. Eventually, players will come across a Daedalian Key on one of the landings with a bunch of portraits surrounding it.
Follow the key further down the stairs towards the Hogwarts Architect statue to find the cabinet.
Fast travel to the "Grand Staircase" Floo Flame location and head up the stairs away from the grand staircase. Turn left at the House Cup Hourglasses, and the key should be floating around on the other side of the door.
Follow the key down the stairs to the right and then make another right before exiting the main door. The cabinet will be tucked away in the corner.
Fast travel to the "Quad Courtyard" Floo Flame location and head up the stairs to the left behind the serpent fountain. Keep going up the stairs past the stag statue and then turn left, and the key should be floating on the landing.
The key will fly back down the stairs and past the serpent fountain into the courtyard. Head under some arches and look to the right to find the House Cabinet.
Library Annex Daedalian Keys
Fast Travel to the "Potions Classroom" Floo Flame location and then head through the door towards the classroom itself. The key will be floating around in front of the Potions classroom entrance.
Follow the key through the door on the left and down the stairs to find the House Cabinet.
Fast travel to the "Central Hall" Floo Flame location and head upstairs. Keep going upstairs until finding the large set of double doors that leads to the Viaduct Bridge puzzle. Instead of going outside, turn right and find the key floating behind the nearby staircase.
This key goes down just one flight of stairs that the player just climbed and then turns right to go to its respective House Cabinet.
Fast travel to the "Central Hall" Floo Flame location and head downstairs this time. Turn to the right after reaching the unicorn statue, go down the stairs, and then turn left before reaching the door to the greenhouses and Professor Garlick's class. The key is flying around in the corner.
Once the player gets close enough, the key will dash off to the other side of the hall. Run past the unicorn statue, head down the stairs, turn right towards the Arithmancy door puzzle, and the House Cabinet is up against the wall.
Fast travel to the "Library" Floo Flame location and go straight through the arches. This key can be hard to sneak up on, and players may run into it by accident.
Follow the key back towards where the player spawned, run past the floo flame, and the House Cabinet will be up against the wall on the right.
The Great Hall Daedalian Keys
Fast Travel to the "Great Hall" Floo Flame location and look at the fireplace to the left. The key should be buzzing around here.
Follow the key back towards the floo flame, turn right, and head up the stairs to find the House Cabinet and claim another House Token.
The Bell Tower Wing Daedalian Keys
Fast travel to the "Bell Tower Courtyard" Floo Flame location and head up the stairs to the left. Go straight through the door at the top of the first flight of stairs, and the key should be flying around at the top of yet another flight of stairs in front of the hanging mask.
This key travels a bit farther than the others. Continue hanging left and running up multiple flights of stairs until coming across a door. Turn left one more time, and players will find the House Cabinet.
Secret Rooms Daedalian Keys
Fast travel to "The Map Chamber" Floo Flame location and immediately turn around -- leave the Map Chamber, and start heading up the stairs. After reaching the top of both spiral staircases, exit out the gate and head down the stairs into the hallway. The key should be whizzing around at the end of the hallway near all the cauldrons.
Turn around after alerting the key and run back through the hallway. Turn left instead of going up the stairs, and players will find the House Cabinet on a wall next to a flaming brazier.
Fast travel to "The Map Chamber" Floo Flame location and head up towards where the last key was. Turn left at the door with all the cauldrons and run towards the Hogwarts sleeping dragon statue. The key is floating above the dragon.
Turn left again and follow the key up the stairs to another House Cabinet.
The South Wing Daedalian Keys
Fast travel to the "Hospital Wing" Floo Flame location. If players don't have this floo flame yet, they need to complete Caretaker's Lunar Lament to learn Alohomora and unlock the Faculty Tower. Go down the stairs, continue past a House Cabinet down another few sets of stairs, and eventually, players will see a door with balloons next to it near an Arithmancy door puzzle. The Daedalian Key is on this landing.
Although it looks as though the key is going up the stairs, it actually heads down towards the base of the faculty tower. The House Cabinet is in the main room, where players enter during the quest to learn Alohomora.
Fast travel to the "Hospital Wing" Floo Flame location, and this time go down the stairs to the level with the Prefect Bathrooms. Turn right and head down the hallway to find the key.
Follow the key back towards the bathroom, and the House Cabinet is in plain sight.
Fast travel to the "Clock Tower Courtyard" Floo Flame location, the same place where players take part in Crossed Wands duels, and head towards the locked door on the left side. Use Alohomora to unlock it and head up the stairs into the rafters.
Head through the nearby door and go further up the stairs; the House Cabinet will be on the left side after exiting the stairwell.
Open the House Chest
With all 16 House Tokens in hand, head back to the common room to open the House Chest. Place each token in the chest, and eventually, it will open and reward players with the Relic House Uniform.
The Relic House Uniform is a unique piece of Robe appearance that changes depending on which house the player is in. The Ravenclaw one can be seen here, but each house has a unique robe design.
This robe is particularly cool because it glows whenever the player casts a spell. Hopefully, it looks good enough to justify running all around Hogwarts looking for 16 different keys and 16 different cabinets.
