Many of the side quests in Hogwarts Legacy serve as glorified fetch quests, with players simply needing to go to a location, kill a few enemies, and then return to the quest-giver with an item or Beast. However, there do at least exist a few side quests that should appeal to puzzle-loving players, including one called "The Hall of Herodiana."
"The Hall of Herodiana" becomes available once players have met up with Sebastian in Feldcroft and can be triggered by speaking with a Ravenclaw student named Sophronia Franklin near the Charms classroom. She'll mention a witch called Herodiana Byren who was particularly gifted with the Depulso spell and then task players with solving a few puzzles in a secret chamber nearby.
Updated May 6, 2023, by Tom Bowen: The Hall of Herodiana requires players to solve a few physics-based puzzles using the Depulso and Accio spells. It's one of the more challenging side quests in Hogwarts Legacy, although, thankfully, is broken up into smaller parts so as to allow players to tackle it in more bite-sized chunks. Even then though, completing Hogwarts Legacy's Hall of Herodiana side quest will take both time and careful planning.
How to Complete the First Puzzle in The Hall of Herodiana
After triggering the quest, players should head to the quest marker and cast Depulso on the door to gain access to the Hall of Herodiana. Once inside, they'll be faced with special blocks that can be pushed or pulled using Accio and Depulso respectively. In the first chamber, players simply need to push the blocks toward the exit using Depulso and then climb the ledge, at the top of which they'll find a chest containing the Herodiana's Cape cosmetic item.
How to Complete the Second Puzzle in The Hall of Herodiana
In the second chamber, players should use Accio to pull the two blocks on the right over to the left and then push the newly formed stack of three back toward the exit of the chamber using Depulso. Next, they'll want to use Accio to pull the blocks back over to the right, at which point they'll be able to climb up and exit the chamber and open the chest containing Herodiana's Attire. It's possible to use the blocks to gain access to another small chest above the entrance to the second chamber, but doing so is arguably a waste of time due to the way that randomized chests work in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Complete the Third Puzzle in The Hall of Herodiana
Like the previous chamber, the third puzzle room in the Hall of Herodiana has a bonus chest, though, once again, it's really not worth the effort. Instead, players should just get to work solving the puzzle, the first steps to which involve using Accio to pull the blocks to the right and then Depulso to push them over toward the spinning sphere. Next, players will want to use Accio to pull the moveable blocks to the left side of the chamber and then use the blocks to climb over toward the far wall.
From here, Hogwarts Legacy players should hit the spinning sphere with a regular spell to reset the position of the moveable blocks and then use Accio to pull the blocks over toward the wall near the exit. The next step is to use Depulso to push the blocks to the wall on the right opposite where the player is standing and then cast Accio to pull them to the right so that they're touching the block with the spinning sphere. It's then just a case of using Accio to pull the blocks over to where players are standing and then Depulso to push them to the wall near the exit.
Doing so will allow players to climb up and reach the final chest. This one contains Herodiana's Cap: a cosmetic item that can be used to customize the appearance of certain pieces of Gear. Players will be able to exit the chamber via the door in front of them and should then head back to Sophronia to turn in the quest. At this point, they'll be given a choice as to whether they show her the outfit, keep it to themselves, or show it to her for a fee. Whatever they choose, they'll get to keep the three cosmetic items and will also receive 180 XP.
Are There Any Other Depulso Puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy?
In addition to the puzzle rooms that feature in Hogwarts Legacy's The Hall of Herodiana side quest, players will be able to find two other Depulso puzzle rooms by exploring the castle. The first is near the Potions Classroom in the Library Annex area of the school, while the second can be found not far from the Bell Tower Courtyard in The Bell Tower Wing. As with the one from the Hall of Herodiana side quest, players will need to cast Depulso on the entranceways to each chamber in order to gain access.
