In the Shadow of Discovery is a side quest commissioned by an excited Sebastian who thinks he found the solution for Anne’s curse in Hogwarts Legacy. After researching and reading Salazar Slytherin’s Spellbook which was found in the Scriptorium, Sebastian Sallow asks for players’ presence to share some exciting news.
Luckily, unlike some In the Shadow quests, people don’t have to set foot outside the castle’s grounds to reach the location of the In the Shadow of Discovery quest in Hogwarts Legacy. That’s because the events take place inside the Undercroft.
In The Shadow Of Discovery Quest In Hogwarts Legacy
Triggering the In the Shadow of Discovery side quest requires completing two previous quests which are; Charles Rookwood’s Trial main quest and In the Shadow of the Study side quest in Hogwarts Legacy. After a while of finishing the prerequisite side quest, Sebastian Sallow sends an owl informing players to come quickly to the Undercroft to share what he discovered while reading Salazar Slytherin’s Spellbook.
Fast travel to the Defence Against The Dark Arts Tower Floo Flame and follow the marked location to reach the Undercroft. Upon meeting Sebastian in Hogwarts Legacy, the boy begins to explain how well his research is going. It turns out that Salazar Slytherin’s Spellbook mentions a lost Relic which has the powers to reverse Dark Magic curses, making it the perfect item for curing Anne’s curse.
After that, Sebastian confesses that he needs to search for the Relic’s location and asks players not to say a word to Ominis. Here, it’s possible to choose I won’t say a word or We should tell Ominis. While the first options make players promise to not say a word, the second one creates a small argument between them and Sebastian, as the latter doesn’t want to involve Ominis in his plans since he wouldn’t understand.
Preferably, it’s better to tell Ominis since he’s actually standing in the room and will make his presence known once Sebastian finishes talking. Upon speaking with the blind Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy, he will be disappointed if players choose to hide it from him and glad if they decide to tell him the truth, hence why telling him is a better option.
As usual, Ominis and Sebastian have an argument about the use of Dark Magic as it terrifies the former and the latter considers it a stepping stone towards completing his goal. Once Sebastian leaves the Undercroft while telling Ominis to leave him alone, players will get the chance to speak with the blind Slytherin.
Ominis expresses how much Sebastian is irresponsible and reckless as his parents were because Dark Magic shouldn’t be meddled with, especially if the information is coming from Salazar Slytherin’s Spellbook in Hogwarts Legacy. The protagonists here have the choice to ask how his parents died, allowing Ominis to explain what happened. The conversation concludes with players promising to stop Sebastian as much as they can from getting entangled with the Dark Art or the Spellbook.
