Combat is a big part of Hogwarts Legacy’s gameplay. The story quickly puts players in a war against two great enemies that terrify the entire wizarding world. To battle such powers, players must prepare some mighty Spell combos that can take opponents down effectively and swiftly.

One thing to take into consideration, though, is Spell loadout isn’t the only ingredient for combat effectiveness. Players still need to properly invest in the talent trees to enhance specific Spells and their effects. Not only that, Gears and their Traits can also affect combat performance in Hogwarts Legacy.

The Best Loadout In Hogwarts Legacy

A solid Hogwarts Legacy build should include at least one Control, one Force, and one Damage Spell. This Spell variety ensures players are ready to deal with any kind of shields they go against.

For Control, Transformation is an excellent Spell on its own. It can always take one or more enemies out of combat by simply casting it. Force and Damage are Accio and Incendio, which are one of the first Spells players learn in Hogwarts Legacy. Both Spells create a powerful combo that can carry players all the way through to the end. What creates this synergy between both Spells is how they cover each other's weaknesses. Incendio is a powerful Pyro attack but lacks range while Accio is a non-damage Spell that pulls enemies close. So, when pulling enemies with Accio, it will ensure that Incendio deals its massive DMG, making those two Spells one of the best combos in Hogwarts Legacy.

Finally, the fourth Spell slot should have a purpose based on the type of enemies players are facing. For example, against Spiders and Inferi, players can take other Pyro Spells like Confringo. For players that don’t mind using Dark Magic, Imperio is a solid addition in all circumstances since it controls enemies’ minds and makes them fight alongside the protagonist.

Talent Upgrades

For this loadout, leveling up the talents of Transformation, Accio, and Incendio is extremely important. The upgrade of all three moves can be found inside the Spells category in the talent tree.

  • The Transformation upgrade will turn enemies into exploding objects that can be thrown back at other enemies, defeating two enemies in one Spell.
  • The Accio upgrade will switch the Spell from affecting one enemy to pulling multiple enemies in a close AoE of the target.
  • As for Incendio, its upgrade is the best among all of them. Casting the upgraded Incendio will release a ring of fire that affect enemies around players and deal some insane damage.

From the Core category in the talent tree, it’s good to invest in Swift and Basic Cast Mastery talents.

  • Swift greatly improves dodging when holding the dodge button.
  • Basic Cast Mastery reduces Spells’ cooldown when hitting enemies with basic casts.

Traits

Since Incendio is going to be the Main Spell of that build in Hogwarts Legacy, players can further enhance it by obtaining its corresponding Trait. It’s called Scorching and has three levels that increase Incendio’s damage with each level. To equip a level 3 Trait, players need to use Kneazle Fur which can be obtained from Kneazle Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy.

Players can equip up to six Gears in Hogwarts Legacy. Each Gear takes one Trait, which means one full build can contain up to six Scorching Traits. That will ensure that Incendio can inflict massive damage.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.
