In Hogwarts Legacy, players will have many different opportunities to grow the strength of their witch or wizard. From the extra stats gained from leveling up to learning new spells, progression throughout the adventure is constant. On top of these mechanics is the Talent Point system, which players can use to individualize their magic to suit their play style. However, talents and talent points are not available from the start of the game and require a time investment to unlock them. So, without further ado, here is how players can unlock Talent points to customize their play style.

What are Talent Points?

In Hogwarts Legacy, players will have access to a wide variety of spells, potions, and magical plants to utilize for both combat and exploring. These spells and tools can be extremely useful for aiding the player in a difficult fight or for solving the many puzzles in the world, even in their regular state. Even better, however, is that players may use Talent Points to augment their favorite spells and magical equipment, increasing their usefulness or their lethality if players are using darker spells.

For instance, players may spend a Talent Point in the Stealth Tree to decrease the likelihood that an enemy will notice the player when using the Disillusionment Charm or the Core tree to give themselves more spell hotkeys. This would allow players to tackle some objectives through stealth rather than have to be outnumbered in a fight or have a much wider variety of spells on hand in hand. Alternatively, players may decide to spend a point in the Room of Requirement tree to improve the Edurus Potion to make themselves invincible for a short period of time. There are many different Talents broken up into five categories with a different number of Talents available to choose from for each, so players will need to learn how to acquire more Talent Points.

Unlocking Talent Points in Hogwarts Legacy

Acquiring Talent Points in Hogwarts Legacy is simple but not necessarily easy. Players must reach the Map Chamber by following the main quest involving a ghost named Richard. This spirit will be met during one of four different quests, depending on which house players chose at the beginning of their adventure. Players must then follow the spirit of Richard Jackdaw to a mysterious cave as he tries to lead players back to where he was when he died.

Once players have made their way to the end of the spider-infested lair, they will be presented with an ancient magic room that Jackdaw did not know about when he died. This room was the Map Chamber, a room full of ancient magic that beckons the player to the large picture frames around the room. Here players will first encounter the portrait of Professor Rackham, who possesses the same ability that the player's character does to see ancient magic. At this point, players will unlock the ability to allocate talent points to their character.

This means that players will be able to earn roughly 35 Talent Points (one per level) if they take the time to level up their characters all the way.
