After getting through the Jackdaw's Rest main story quest in Hogwarts Legacy, players will receive a quest from Professor Sharp, dubbed Professor Sharp's Assignment 1." The teacher wants players to do two things: acquire and use a Focus Potion, and then get Maxima and Edurus Potions, and then use them simultaneously.

The game doesn't really explain to players what it exactly means to use two potions at once, so in this guide, we will teach players how to use potions simultaneously. For those looking for specified details on how to make the potions for the quest and where to find the materials, we have a dedicated Hogwarts Legacy guide that covers all that.

Early on in the adventure, players will have to use two potions simultaneously to complete an assignment from Professor Sharp. It's a bit difficult to figure out how it works, but this guide will give players the info they need to progress the story.

Once players have made the required Maxima and Edurus Potions, they must follow these steps to use potions simultaneously:

  • Hold down the L1 button to open the Tool Wheel.
  • Hover over one of the potions and then let go of L1 to equip it.
  • Once it's equipped, players need to drink it by pressing the L1 button again (but don't hold it).
  • Once the potion's effects have activated, go ahead and quickly equip the second potion by repeating the process.
  • The game will know that the player has two different potions activated simultaneously, completing the request from Professor Sharp.

The Edurus Potion is made with Mongrel Fur and Ashwinder Eggs. It enhances the drinker's defense for 20 seconds by covering them with durable rocky skin.

The Maxima Potion lasts for 30 seconds and increases the drinker's spell damage. It can be brewed at a potion station with Spider Fangs and Leech Juice.

Hogwarts Legacy is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is coming later this year.
