The Focus Potion is one of the most powerful potions available, and using it correctly will turn players into an unstoppable force. Players wanting to make use of Focus Potions regularly will need to understand how to get a steady supply of them since they are only temporary buffs.
While it's always an option to purchase potions from vendors, brewing them is a much more cost-effective way to go about things. Alongside the recipe, Hogwarts Legacy players also need to gather up certain ingredients, some of which are difficult to obtain, especially early on in the game.
What Do Focus Potions Do?
Focus Potions grant a temporary buff when drank that drastically decreases the cooldown time of spells. With this buff active, it's possible to forgo basic casts entirely in favor of slinging powerful, damaging spells like Diffindo, Confringo, and Bombarda instead. By default, Focus Potions last 15 seconds, more than enough time to send a barrage of powerful spells toward enemies.
Where Is the Focus Potion Recipe?
If players want to obtain the recipe for Focus Potions, they'll need to make their way to Hogsmeade and find J. Pippin's Potions. This is the only store in the game that sells potions recipes, and the Focus Potion Recipe, in particular, will cost 1,200 Galleons. Though this is expensive, this powerful potion is well worth the hefty price tag. J Pippin's Potions is unlocked after the player's first visit to Hogsmeade with Sebastian or Natty.
How to Make Focus Potions
Focus Potions have three ingredients, all of which must be brought to a Potions Station in order to brew the potion. Potions Stations can be found in either the Potions Classroom or the Room of Requirement if players conjure up the right spellcraft, but the ingredients are a bit more difficult. The three ingredients players will need are Lacewing Flies, Fluxweed Stem, and Dugbog Tongues.
- Lacewing Flies are commonly found in glowing bushes throughout the open world.
- Fluxweed Stem can be grown in Large Pots after purchasing Fluxweed Seeds from The Magic Neep.
- Dugbog Tongues are obtained by defeating Dugbog enemies like the Cottongrass Dugbog.
Getting the Most Out of Focus Potions
After seeing how effective Focus Potions are, it may be hard to believe that there is actually a way to enhance them even further. After unlocking Talent Points by progressing through the main story and leveling up a bit, players can spend them on a particular talent that boosts Focus Potions. This is one of the best Room of Requirement Talents in the game for potion enthusiasts.
